"Echo In The Canyon" Film Soundtrack: 2 Neil Young's Songs

Echo In The Canyon is a documentary film by Andrew Slater on the Laurel Canyon music scene, set for release on May 24, 2019. The film soundtrack features 2 Neil Young's songs: "I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times" and "What’s Happening".

In the mid-60s, an explosion of enduring music came out of a small Los Angeles area known as Laurel Canyon including The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and The Mamas and the Papas. Featuring Jakob Dylan, the film uncovers never-before-heard personal details behind the bands and their songs and how that music continues to inspire today. Echo in the Canyon contains candid conversations and performances with Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Michelle Phillips, Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Roger McGuinn and Jackson Browne as well as contemporary musicians they influenced such as Tom Petty (in his very last film interview), Beck, Fiona Apple, Cat Power, Regina Spektor and Norah Jones.

Photographer Henry Diltz, with his iconic photograph of Crosby, Stills and Nash 1969 debut album cover is featured prominently in the exhibit at the Grammy Museum exhibit "California Dreamin': The Sounds of Laurel Canyon, 1965 - 1977"

And, a fantastic, essential interview with album cover artist Gary Burden as he travels the streets of modern day Laurel Canyon.
