A Deeply Personal Message from Neil Young | NYA

A MESSAGE FROM NEIL
via Neil Young Archives

A new message from Neil on posted on Neil Young Archives today.

This is a deeply personally and heartfelt message from Neil reflecting on his Father (Scott Young) and what he might think about Times-Contrarian: "I think Daddy would be happy to see what I am doing now with this newspaper."

There's a lot of Prairie Wind "blowing through my head" with this message. Or -- as we once reflected -- "Prairie Wind": A Gentle Breeze Deceptively Lulls The Howls Of Loss.

Also, read a concert review from August 18-19, 2005: "A Prairie Wind Blows Through Nashville" by a fan named Karen Barry Schwarz. More on Neil Young's new "Prairie Wind" CD and reviews of the Ryman concerts.

Trying to remember what Daddy said
(Prairie wind blowing through my head)
Before too much time took away his head
(Prairie wind blowing through my head)
He said we're going back and
I'll show you what I'm talking about

And might we hear these reflections eventually someday as Neil and the Horse head into the studio?

  1. Thanks, Neil. I am sure Daddy would be proud. I too had a paper route which I delivered by bike every evening and Saturday morning. I grew up in Santa Monica, California, and the early 80's was a good time to be a paperboy on the North Side, especially around Christmas.

Thanks for doing what you do, Neil, and for continuing to release the live albums and other great stuff. You have been so prolific over the years. I have been fortunate enough to see you play live around 20 times now. 6 @ Old Princeton Landing, Idaho with PotR, to name a few. I will be seeing you play in Seattle May 20th, God willing, and I am very excited.

One request from this High Resolution fan: Please do release Archives 2 on Blu Ray. I bought a whole sound system for Vol 1. I use if for other music, music DVDs, and movies, but it sure could use some more Neil Young. I have all you have released, I am sure.

Mainly, Thank you, for all the good times and great music. Alan in Seattle

  2. @Alan,
    Nice letter. Thanks for posting.
I'm venturing to Seattle from the east coast for the two Neil & POTR shows.
By any chance, could you recommend a good hotel within walking distance of The Paramount Theater
and any "must see" sites around the town. Cheers!

    Peace ✌️

  3. I’ve lost both my parents and my brother so I know what Neil is going through. I’m always reflecting on my memories with my folks and my brother, and although I miss them here in this realm I know they are always with me. I too had a paper route when I was young and I remember how it taught me the value of hard work and being reliable in my job. Dad always told me that the most important ability you bring when working for someone is dependability. That has always served me well.

Thanks Neil for sharing so much with us through the years.

  5. Stills, Since no one else suggested anything I would recommend taking a drive up the 5 to the Burlington exit and do a scenic tour of highway 20. Take it east through Cascades National Park. There are a ton of roadside attractions to check out. They all have a brown sign & lead to beautiful lakes a short walk up a path. It's a really beautiful portion of the Pacific Northwest.

  6. @Peacelover Doc - Thank you very much! Sounds like a great idea. Appreciate this.
I always like to leave a few days to venture around, and see the country, when hitting the road for a Neil show.
It really enhances the entire experience. Cheers!

    Peace ✌️
