Bridge School Benefit Concert Memories: Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir & Neil Young - 1988

Recently, we posted the sad news that there will be No Bridge School Benefit Concert in 2017 .

In memory of all of the Bridge School Benefit Concerts we've attended over the years, here's a posting of our thoughts on Remembering The Warmth & Love of Bridge School Concerts .

From the second annual Bridge School benefit show in Oakland, CA in 1988, Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir played a 4 song acoustic set. (Thanks Dan!)

Neil Young joins on harmonica and Rob Wasserman on bass.

  2. Now on topic......

Great little set from Jerry and Bob. As a devoted Deadhead and Loyal fan of "Mr. forever Young" this was a real treat. In classic Dead fashion they took their time finding the groove then slowly fell in with Neil delivering some subtle nuance on harmonica. The performance was wobbly in spots yet Garcia provided moments of shear brilliance, while Weir illustrated his unique rhythm style throughout.

Throwing Stones is still as relevant now as it was in 88', and Ripple is by far one of Robert Hunter's most beautiful lyrics.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

    It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
    Perhaps they're better left unsung
    I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

    Now back off topic.....

On the Amazon pre order there is no cover shown yet, and no track listing so far. But, at least we can order it on vinyl.

    Peace.
