Shirt of the Moment: Maui, Hawaii

Nate & Karen & Geoff Flying Thrasher's Wheat 20th Anniversary Shirts
Maui, Hawaii

(Click photo to enlarge)
Here is the Shirt of the Moment of Nate & Karen & Geoff in Maui, Hawaii.

Geoff is our shirt designer of the Thrasher's Wheat 20th Anniversary Shirts.

Geoff writes us:
These two kids - Nate & Karen - your tie-dyers, are about to get married so they asked me to make some photos of them today. Thus I was able to get this shot of the three of us for you.

Side note, they are not related to the tie-dye store we are in front of, but Joey the guy who owns it is the head who is in the Dead family and “died" for them in the 90s. And Nate learned from him, and Karen from him. “Jamin’ on Maui” is the sister store to "Jammin' on Haight"… you know where that neighborhood is I’m sure. But the funnier thing is the note on the store window.

Classic Maui style brah.

Thanks so much Nate & Karen & Geoff !

And thanks to all who have sent photos so far from tour. We'll have more in the coming days to feature.

Also, if you recently ordered a shirt on the 2nd round of Thrasher's Wheat 20th Anniversary Shirts, here is the latest update. The order has been compiled and submitted to Geoff & his shirt folks out in Hawaii. Shirts have been ordered and die tying is commencing. It will take a few weeks to complete the printing and dying process. The shipment to TW HQ and then back out to you good folks. So hopefully we'll have these out to folks in August.

ps - got a Shirt of the Moment shot?! Send it to us at thrasher@thrasherswheat.org

pss - it's all one shirt!

  1. Off subject - there's a recent Nash interview where he says CSN - CSNY will never play again because Crosby 'has torn the heart out of the group' - it appears that Crosby's tirade against Ms Hannah has been the reason for the split I think we could of all guessed that. Maybe Crosby also said what on earth are you doing leaving Susan for a 30 year old? I guess Crosby isn't the ideal candidate for casting opinions. I had to check my record collection after listening to Nash I was looking for the great CSN & CSNY legacy he talks as if they've been making great music for the last 30 years.
By the way Earth is still a stinker but the recent live sets look like Neil was at the top of his game.

  2. Hey, let's all stop buying the records of rock not rollers who left their wives. Or rejoin the real world. Either will do.

  3. Well said growl. Marriage, fidelity, divorce and the rock and roll lifestyle are strange "bed fellows" to begin with.

Regardless, the meatier topic about CSN/Y never playing together again has been thrown around a lot by Nash recently. He's furious with Crosby, whereas Neil's mind and mood change almost daily. So I'm confident that if/when the moment's right, Neil would happily play with them again and forget whatever stupid things he or anyone has said...

Nash is more steadfast and "stable" when he speaks out, so at this time I feel he's the key to whether or not they'll play together again. Personally I have very little desire to see them at this point. When I see Neil (with any band), I'm there to see him and hear his songs, not theirs.

I'd be very happy if Neil just sticks with the POTR as his permanent band. Their chemistry is dynamic and evolving every show. I'd hate for it to be stymied by other diversions and tributes to the past.

    Take my advice
    don't listen to me

  4. Andy your comment.... by the way Earth is still a stinker.. is right on. I finally bought the hype and bought a NY album for the first time in four years and except for VB's and HD no other songs are worth a re-listen it just simply reeks of mer....s. If I want to hear animal sounds I listen to Natural Beauty(no other songs with animal sounds on E come close to that song- on E every sound seems forced)and also why not just listen to the epic beauty of Will to Love the greatest nature song in existence.

  5. I have to disagree growl and TopangaDaze. Crosby has the right, and may feel an obligation to speak out about what he feels is destructive to his friend. Remember, Crosby had a front row seat to the Daryl Hannah, Jackson Browne show. And it was Neil that said, "Everybody needs a friend who can tell you, you're just pissing in the wind". The rock and roll lifestyle may make strange bedfellows with marriage and fidelity, but some of us take it very seriously regardless of our occupation or lifestyle.
I think Nash is more pompous than steadfast and stable. A CSNY reunion doesn't seem likely any time soon, but if Nash was the one derail it, he should realize he is the weakest link.
Finally, I'll agree Neil and POTR are coming together nicely (I'll get to see them for the first time at the Outlaw Music Fest.), but to never tour with Crazy Horse again would be a tragedy of epic proportions.

  7. Someone needs to tell Nash CSN/Y haven't been relevant since around 1974. Their occasional releases American Dream & Looking Forward are dreadful. I did read that Crosby told Nash his book 'Wlid Tales' was a piece of s....t, and Nash didn't consult with Crosby about some of the 'stories'. I've read it and confirms my view about Nash in that he is self absorbed. Oh well I'm going to put Manassas double album and get back to the music!

  8. Hey rightwing, I certainly agree that Crosby has a right to share his opinions and I never said he didn't. All 4 of them have been outspoken at various times, some more than others. Now personally, I do feel that Crosby is probably the biggest jerk of the 4, but it doesn't really matter.

Also, I somewhat agree with Andy and feel that the CSN/Y legacy is greatly hyped and the recorded output just doesn't quite match up...

Regarding Crazy Horse, I fully expect Neil to saddle them up again. However, if recent history is an indicator, it will be a tedious, self-indulgent noise fest. Just my opinion, and yes, I'm going through a recently prolonged period where their style and chemistry together just bores me. (Primarily Neil's fault, not theirs.)

    don't listen to me
