Neil Young vs. Amazon: Neil Young To Withdraw Music from Amazon.com

Neil Young vs. Amazon

Neil Young has announced that he will withdraw his music catalog from Amazon Music.

Folks may recall back in 2022 when Neil Young had his music catalog removed from Spotify.

In a statement on Neil Young Archives, Neil Young announced that his music will soon no longer be available on the platform. In the message, published on October 8, 2025, he urged people to stop shopping at Amazon and its US supermarket chain Whole Foods:
"FORGET AMAZON AND WHOLE FOODS.
Stop buying from big corporations."
Instead, people should "buy local" and "buy direct." Consumers should support their community and visit local businesses. The goal is to "Take America Back" by doing the right thing and supporting local businesses.

Neil goes on to criticize big corporations for "selling out America" accusing corporations of crippling the US government, endangering people's incomes, undermining personal safety, and jeopardizing families' healthcare.

Neil Young specifically mentions Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who supports the Trump administration. He argues that America is at the beginning of an "age of corporate control." Everyone must therefore give up something to save the country. Therefore, Neil Young concludes:
"Soon, my music will no longer be available there."
Neil Young has had a long and tangled relationship with digital music vendors such as Amazon. Much of the struggle is detailed in the book "To Feel the Music" by Neil Young and Phil Baker.

  1. After seeing the Coastal movie on the big screen , I sought out the soundtrack. Only to find Neil pulled the release to correct issues. Then I noticed it was available as a hi res d/l in the NY d/l store. But no vinyl? Odd, but the Vinyl was available on Amazon so i snagged it. Looked like an “official” release but sound was what I can only describe as intermittent “digitized skipping”. And not on all songs. So I reached out to NYA cust support. They said a few of the pulled releases made there way to Amazon. They graciously provided me with a d/l link. They rock @ NYA 😎

  5. Neil's never been particularly consistent when it comes to Amazon. I remember not that long ago how he was praising the company for having hi-res streaming, and I was like, really, that's enough for you? That said, I don't expect consistency in anyone. It's an impossible standard. I just hope most of us are at least trying to do right by each other.

  6. Support Farmers Markets!

  7. There are many people who cannot "buy local" because there is nothing to buy. There are many food deserts in the US, especially now in rural areas. The farmers market world is most generally for white middle-upper middle class people. It is a good sentiment and probably good for many people but we will need mass production of food and this includes corporations.

    1. Ok, thanks Abner.

Support farm-to-table dinners. Buy a meat box or a CSA (community supported agriculture) share.

Use farms as venues for weddings, baby showers, or birthday parties.

There are quite a few practical, direct actions.

  9. There will be a gigantic US protest nationwide, & worldwide, on Saturday Oct 18!
Dan & I will be involved and present. Even Red state Idaho has been seeing enormous turnout for protests.

If you value Democracy and the protection of the Constitution, you should go to the protests and add to their numbers. We need to force Democracy on the US. The level of corruption Trump places in the Justice Dept and elsewhere is unprecedented. We need to push this mean moron out. His tantrums of destruction are erasing the American Dream as we watch. “Get offa that couch, turn off your MTV.”

Since evil King Dumbass has put terror in the hearts of immigrants, they have self-deported (over a million) to the extent that the farms are struggling with no workers to pick the crops, process the food, etc.

Lazy white people and others will not work hard in the fields for very-little-money. So, food will be scarce and prices will jump.

Trump says he loves Capitalism as he dismantles it. And it is hard to do much without food.

Yes, the Empire is crumbling. It matters not to me that Neil Young is taking his music back from Amazon.

Quality issues from Coastal? Screaming Trees had a similar issue with LP production. The band re-released their first album “Clairvoyance” and some people got a crappy / dirty side of vinyl.

To Hell with DT and his krappy koolade krew (KKK). Rise up. Millions in the streets can steer us to a new Gov’t. Bring it on.

Be there or you can’t say much about resistance. It’s 1939: What would you do? Lemmings put on brown shirts and held load the prisoners onto trains for the genocide.

Now the shoe is on the other foot: our tax money is used by both parties for Genocide in Gaza. Did Trump really abandon his idea of a Middle East Riviera built on the rubble of Gaza? I doubt it.

Trump will fly into a rage after he fails to win a Nobel Prize.

  12. Amazon, Meta, X, FoxNews, and all the others financing this authoritarian regime are complicit. But the real butchers are in the government doing their bidding. So we all need to focus on the government rather than boycotting industries. We all need to get out in the streets and exercise our first amendment rights, and fearlessly protest peacefully. We only need 3.5 percent of the population to stand up strong against this tyrannical regime to take it down. We’ve already waited too long to wake up. So get out there on October 18th and let your voice be heard…..we outnumber them!!

Peace to all, and Power to the People πŸ™

    1. Dan, Alan & Everyone else: I know we are getting to “Them”. You can tell by the way they are calling No Kings an Anti American Rally. That message maybe true in other countries, even the one’s with monarchs, but the World is watching & knows the truth. This is an Anti Trump Rally.
I am sick to my core about all the divisions, hatred and vindictiveness. The lies. We are winning.
The turnout has grown with each protest fueled by all the daily nonsense led by T Rump & his flunky stooges. There will be pain and lots of it to come, but it’s always darkest before the dawn.
      Stay safe. Stay strong.

  13. Listen guys, let us lay our reality down. We've gone to school and lived in Washington DC since late 70s.

We've been inside of every House Building... Rayburn, Cannon, etc
Every Senate Building Hart, Russell, etc lobbying our eleceted/selected representatives.

Protested at White House, Pentagon and most agencies... EPA, Interior, Agricultural. State, etc

If you really think people on the streets matters, go for it. That's exactly what they want. Your time occupied by meaningless sign waving, chanting, etc

But you trying to grow your own food on 10x10 plot?

That scares the crap out of the PTB.

Bartering, trading in the underground economy. Generating your own energy with micro-Hydro, biomass, etc. This is Corporate fear. Our independence.

Break free. That's the most radical act.

We see a lot of traditional actions that play it safe. No risk. Easy stuff.

We're beyond this. Stop wasting time and act locally. Super local. Stop supporting corporations. It's a lot easier than you've been lied to about.

You want to make a difference? GET off the grid, disconnect.

That's a better use of time.

    1. I agree with a lot of what you said. I like the suggestions you made, except the part about “sign waving being waste of time” I could not disagree more with that.

Although the frog brigade is doing a great job of de-escalating ICE and erasing their excuses.

Americans are only waking up to participation in Government even past elections. The communal vibes of the peaceful protests fill people with hope.

Women’s rights, & those of diverse people are being erased. It’s fine to be Racist. This is NOT OK with me.

We are fighting Racism, Fascism, Tiny-minded attacks on science, and standing up for human decency.

Those of us who are protesting are doing the job for the rest. In reality, we need all hands on deck.

If we do as the Europeans do, millions in the streets can really make a difference. Especially if it’s day after day!

The people must demand free speech and the right to protest. Civil rights are being taken away, usually from non whites.

I care about all of the citizens & the inhuman treatment of immigrants is unacceptable! We need workers in the US, especially in the jobs that are now vacant because Trump chased out the workers. They should be paid a lot more, and given free health care if they will work in our country. All of the citizens should have total health care coverage.

Easier to ignore for the white guys. If you own land, you can do a lot more of what you want to do, like grow crops.

I do like the list Dionys made.

Get out and Protest on October 18th while protest is still legal. This is 1939… what would you do to stop it?

Our basic Human Rights and American Rights here in the US are being stripped and threatened. The Police State Fascists are trying to provoke a reaction.

I say, keep it peaceful but definitely protest! Soon we may not be allowed to protest, and that is “In-American!”

  14. Many Americans (and other humans elsewhere)
… understand that their society overstretched the supply lines
… reach out to their neighbours, no matter what color of skin they have, where they come from or whom they love
… start moving into smaller houses or apartments
… try to increase communal resilience and public wealth as opposed to supersize their
swimming pools, golf clubs or private caribbean islands
… use bicycles instead of SUVs and other recreational tanks to do their daily errands
… begin installing solar panels to lessen dependency on conventional electricity based on burning fossil fuel
… came to question the habit that every grocery item has to be wrapped in three layers of plastic
… do not believe that “best before” translates as “absolutely lethal after”
… grow a vegetable garden to work towards food sovereignty
… learn how to cook their meals themselves in order to acquire some taste of their own as opposed to standardized tastes produced by the food industry
… don’t have a problem with eating less meat
… don’t buy the idea that 500 different GMO yoghurts and chlorine chicken make for a consumer paradise
… think twice before they book a transcontinental or even intercontinental flight to see a concert by their favourite rock star
… remember the idea that an education that deserves being called education is rather about values than about bought and paid for knowhow to make even more money
… believe that illness, handicap and old age are not an individuals fault and therefore conclude that no individual should not fall victim to the capitalist pseudo-puritan darwinists
… that nature is more than a resource or a pretty landscape for the holidays
… believe that a democratic government as such is as imperfect as any human undertaking but they know they can’t do without one
… that acting on behalf of themselves, the common good, and a liveable future of their descendants instead of lining the White House outhouse with gold, is an expression of free speech
… are taking to the streets because they support some of the ideas above while their government is running away with their country

So Alan, Dan and Thrasher are all on the right track, I believe and their ideas do not exclude each other.

Maybe you can check some of the ideas on this list. If you can’t, maybe you should ask yourself whether you overstayed your welcome on this planet?

    1. So basically, if you don't follow your ideal way of living, you don't deserve to live? Got it.

Some might say that way of thinking is almost what might be called fascism....

      Delete
  15. Ah, I understand you can't check some of these ideas? That's a pity... But maybe you can come up with better ones? What's wrong with growing a garden? Why is it difficult to accept that nature also is something else beyond recreational and resource value? Why is criticising the ostentatious makeover of the White House toilets fascist? Do you really need 500 different GMO yoghurts? Were you ever taught that beyond grocery prices there is something called values? And if so, do you know where one can buy them?
There's but one word in your comment that rings some truth: "ideal". "Ideal" originally meant that a human being follows some ideas in his or her daily life. Actually we all do. I did not propose that my ideas are the only ones, I did not propose that others who don't subscribe to any of this on my list don't deserve to live. That's your distorted reading. But yes, I believe eventually those who overstay their welcome on this planet will go the way of the dodo and the dinos.

  17. DIONYS, I am not sure if there is enough character left in America for many or all of your ideas. Change requires a diligence of character. Even asking Americans to downsize their vehicles is mostly hopeless. When necessity forces change, we know that character has vanished.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Listing all these ideas, I am still a realist. I know that Americans grew a habit of running gas-guzzlers and I agree that it will take necessity in a lot of these areas of everyday life because character has vanished. Still the lemming-like pursuit of the current manufactured version of the American dream will end with this or the next generation, simply because the promise of ever growing wealth being distributed can't be kept anymore. 25. I can totally understand why a German would be ashamed of the past. Lord knows any German should be ashamed of its history.

I'm an American. I'm ashamed of nothing about the past, present, or future. And why should I be? The United States is the leader in all things that matter, that's why when world leaders get together these days, you know who is the one calling the shots, while the European leaders sit back and nervously collect his dust. The other day, as a deal was made to get the Middle East closer to actual peace than I've ever seen in my lifetime, Trump gave a 26 second uncomfortable handshake with the simp who leads France, cut the UK prime minister off before he could start spewing out woke nonsense, and then hit on the beautiful leader of Italy. It was awesome to watch the awkwardness of the entire thing. Trump is the king of the jungle, toying with his prey. It's quite glorious to watch.

But hey, no kings protest in a few days. It won't make the boogeyman go away, but it will feel good to scream and shake your hands at the sky.

  29. @ Richie Rich:

I am only part Ashkenazi but I am 100% Anti Genocide, and 100% anti fascist. You think this is funny? The klansmen are having a chuckle tonight over those darn snap chats.

Bumbling serial bankrupter D Trump is causing major problems for our country. In 5 minutes he threw away alliances that were born from world wars for literally no gain, and no reason. He caused a major Canadian boycott of USA (everything USA!), which is hurting tourism.

WHO would want to visit the US when they could be hassled for stupid reasons at the border, detained, for weeks even, or months. This causes world tourism to sensibly avoid the US!

Trump is bad big and small businesses. The economy will crash. And then Trumps & his buddies will buy it all up for pennies on the dollar. He is trying to tank it, and doing a great job!

But the Idiot King forgot who brings in the Harvest? Or he didn’t even know? Or he doesn’t care? Of course he doesn’t care. He is a Sociopath and a Bully. He is a Fascist & an Evil Wannabe Dictator. You look like sick a prick.

@ Richie Cruz : you said they threw some great parties back in the day. Maybe that’s why we don’t agree. You are a sociopath perhaps & the rest of us were blessed with Hearts of Gold. But not you. Throw Your Hatred Down! It’s an Angry World in your head and the rest of us, we just Walk On…

to major protest this Saturday. #NoKings! Saturday Oct 18. Protests are everywhere! Get out and use your free speech while you can! Its out up or shut up time. “Get offa that couch, turn off that MTV!” We gotta stand up, take back our country!

The last No Kings protest was enormous. The largest ever in the history of the country. TV doesn’t show it. Chicken shit TV station CEO’s hit the bricks with their knee pads on to line up for Trump to stick it to em.
Those cowards will not be judged well by history. Neither will the Trump fans, especially those who support him knowing full well who is is and what he stands for, now in the light of day.

Your king is cruel AF and forgot he works for ALL Americans. Selfish prick…

You think “Ohio” is funny too? Why are you here again? Remind us. Oh, never mind. You already have.

@ Thrasher : I gotta say man, for you to question the value of holding a sign was disappointing. Are you a lobbyist or something? They got to you in the halls of government it seems. Too cynical to stand in protest? Or not aware of people’s lives in the cities? In some posts in the past you seem to have a biblical view of sorts. If there is a big shift…. If it involved ignoring Nazi moves by fascists unleashing a military force on our Homeland! The fuck the big shift, I say. Or put it on hold for after we force Democracy on the US and a return to a sane interpretation of the Constitution.

The whole world is now calling Gaza a Genocide by the IDF, the Israeli Army, and their WarCriminal Netanyahu.

Before the people protested, this would never have happened that world consensus agrees now it is War Crimes in Gaza.

Greta Thunberg brought love and food on boats and got arrested. The world began to notice.

Peaceful Protest works. Did you forget that? It’s like after Ohio now you want to Get Back To The Country.

But this moment is crucial. The citizens must stand, as many that have any guts or concern for your fellow humans.

ICE is throwing out workers. The US needs all of the workers being deported here doing the difficult underpaid jobs that Americans would never touch. Slaughterhouse, hospitality, food service, maids, and so many others.

We need health care for all, including our gourmets in the US, who work to make our lives better. Stop the assault on the good people within our borders! What would Jesus do indeed? Get off your asses and protest!

The point is not the sign, it’s the large numbers to overwhelm the lack of major news coverage. Wussies afraid they will lose their TV license.

But something bigger is happening: the awakening of the sleeping giant, finally! The American sleeping Giant is fucking pissed and rightly so.

Fascists will be judged harshly. Nazi bugs will be squished. Anti Fascism is blowing up with frogs, straight outta the Bible. Frogs gonna make ICE look so stupid, even more, evermore.

Join us or miss out on the greatest party. Jan 6 was an idiot’s Bully party. Ours has unicorns and sharks dancing in the streets. ICE arrested a band member playing an instrument after running into them chasing a person. Then ICE arrests the band member who did literally nothing… for assault of an ICE officer, total Fascist move. Fuck Fascism! Who’s Gonna Stand Up! Who’s Gonna Stand Up?!

We walked to the nearest bar. They had candles lit and only let us in because they knew us as regulars. Unforgettable. I had just smoked in prep for the game so that was extra weird lol
