Back in 2010, Garth Hudson produced an all-Canadian tribute album which honors the Band. The album features Neil Young with The Sadies on "This Wheel's on Fire".

Canadian Celebration of the Band

Hudson says of the Young/Sadies collaboration:
"It all came together very easily.

I was privileged to watch Neil with Mr. Bob Young backstage in Toronto and London; the concerts in London and Toronto were amazing. And Neil's equipment is not the type you expect, it's not the usual. His amplifiers are very special, a combination of old and new technology.

It's an amazing sound, a sound you can't get with digital electronics and digital gear."

  2. Somewhere I read that Garth Hudson died in Woodstock, NY, so chances are that he might be interred within the same cemetary as Rick Danko and Levon Helm.
Rick's modest and small headstone was marked by a Canadian flag that stood out among these stars and stripes. Levon Helm's grave stone shows a whole drum kit and can't be overlooked. There were deer grazing among the graves and in a corner there were cardboard sheets left behind by a homeless person.

In the vicinity of the community you'll find Big Pink, the famous location where the "Basement Tapes" originated. My wife and I snuck in with a visiting group that consisted of participants of a guitar workshop that was held nearby. The group rendered an inpromptu a capella version of "I Shall be Released".

Experiences like these are the ones that make me believe that it is not all lost with my American friends.

You still got 1448 days to prepare for a return to a true democracy and the rule of law.
