More concert reports @ “Love Earth Tour”: Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse Concert Dates (UPDATED).
I see on SM setlist that Human Highway was "unfinished"...any reports as to why?
ReplyDeleteApparently there were sound issues affecting this show.
ReplyDeleteYes, the sound started off too big, ironically reigned in for Hurricaine
ReplyDeleteTHEN IT CUT OUT MORE THAN ONCE LATER ON.
Neil was a good sport, played from his stage amp while everyone quietly listened.
Overall, an inconsistent performance by the horse. Micah got lost or Neil lost him on a few tracks and I was missing that consistent drive of Poncho. Love and only Love is where the horse hit full stride, with a love to burn interlude jam!!. Neil was in a good mood and talkative. Got restricted view seats last minute and found a nice spot to the left and halfway up where I stayed put with good vibes and fans. Gonna be in the pit tonite! Hope they get everything tightened up.

ReplyDeleteFrom Billboard:
ReplyDeleteThe rain didn’t put a damper on the evening, but unfortunately, a few sound issues did.
During Young’s solo acoustic portion toward the end of the set, the sound cut out entirely during “Human Highway”; when it came back, Young gamely restarted the song, only to have it drop out again. He made the right choice to solider on, bring out the full band and tackle “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)” — but unfortunately, the audio issues persisted. As the sound faded in and out on that cataclysmic rocker, it was almost like listening to a vinyl record using a sound system on the fritz; one moment the noise level is pummeling you, the next moment all you can hear is the small sound made from the needle raking over the record’s groove.

Thank you all for your input! Hope tonight is better!
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd night in Queens comes in with yet another interesting, jumbled setlist, with an early Down By the River, a midset Danger Bird, and the tour debuts of Mansion On the Hill and Sugar Mountain.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe the smoke was a little heavy backstage as the boys played not one, but two Roll Another Numbers! Not sure why that happened, maybe someone who was there could explain.
Great show tonight. First night was real good but relaxed and Neil seemed to be happy and loose. Tonight was much more intense. He seemed more serious and was driving the band. Loved the first night but I left kinda of accepting that he is getting older - still great but age is taking its toll. Tonight it was like he was 5 (Fresno shows) or almost 10 years (Alchemy) younger. First night he didn’t even seem that mad about the sound problems (and we have all seen him get angry before). Tonight there were no real problems but at one point he smacked his microphone because something about it irritated him. For me it was night and day in terms of the first show versus the second show with regard to power and mood. I was in the pit both nights which had excellent energy. The curfew did cut them off at the end so he did the weird one verse of Roll another number (they had already played it) and then they all smiled and took off their instruments. I will say I love Micah in this band (still miss Poncho but this is a perfect replacement if it has to be).
ReplyDeleteThere’s word leaking out that Early Daze may see the light of day next month:

Ps
I’m loving all these reviews of the current tour - sounds so great - I hold out the slight hope we’ll get Neil out to Aus again one day! Every kid’s gotta have a dream right?
"Early Daze" is on the NYA Timeline now, the release date being September 20, 2024. The tracklist shows a song by Danny Whitten "Look at All the Things" which also can be found on "Scratchy". The Greedy Hand does not advertise the album yet.
