Show postponed until tomorrow (5/09) due to storms in the area. Kudos to venue, Ticketmaster and everyone else involved for great communication throughout the day
ReplyDeleteCouldn’t disagree more … people were arriving on site to discover the show was off, and the venue had us think the show was on despite active tornado warnings for the area.
ReplyDeleteSure, I wanted the show to happen but seemed obvious to us a couple hours earlier it wasn’t going to. We kept driving until we got the news (crazy, I guess) and then had to turn around and drive back home as we couldn’t stay for the reschedule.
Now that is a dream setlist. Very happy to see Danger Bird get another outing. The show is also lengthening out and so one hopes the Horse is building to a full gallop. Still no Chevrolet or other 'new' Horse material released since the last tour (Timberline, Born To Run, Help me Lose My Mind, They Might Be Lost, Heading West) though....
ReplyDeleteDefinitely made up for the postponement
ReplyDeleteWhat a set list! I am hoping for a long set and encores in Boise!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who saw the show: Please comment on your impression of the band’s playing, performance!

A couple of videos from the show have surfaced on YouTube and the band sounded in great form;

Sedan oh glorious Sedan. Yea man. A sort of workman like tempo I like this tune to 11 in urgency. But glad it's made an appearance. I think we go all the way back to Alchemy leg 2 w Rick Rosas since last outing. Thanks for dusting off this old chestnut. 😃
ReplyDeleteVampire Blues, Roll Another Number, Sedan Delivery, and Danger Bird again!!! Now we’re talking’. Feels like they’re getting more comfortable now, so I expect things to get more adventurous as they go along. The last time I saw Neil & Crazy Horse was at Red Rocks for the Alchemy Tour, so I am just so excited for the July stop near Boise.
ReplyDeletePeace 🙏
Pretty decent article here, I didn't know it was the first Crazy Horse Vampire blues

Hadn't heard about the Love Earth village...looks we should go in early.

@Alan: we saw the Huntsville show Sunday and the Franklin show last night. The Huntsville show was good, but Franklin was amazing! The sound was great in this old rock quarry ampitheater. The band sounded tighter and played with more energy, I thought. Each song had a bit more jam, Hurricane and Powderfinger especially. Add in the setlist, first Vampire Blues and Danger Bird for me personally, and it was an incredible experience. I'm already looking at future dates, maybe Louisville or Hollywood Bowl for the tour closer.

ReplyDeleteMight be the best light show tonight in Virginia ever for a Neil Young and Crazy Horse show. I might have to leave my seat in row Q to witness the sky tonight. They saw the Aurora all the way to Florida last night and I saw it in North Carolina for the first time ever. The sun is ramping up right now with another X-Flare this morning. Wild weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone reading this is kindly advised to take your shoes and socks off to walk around on the ground for fifteen minutes. This really reminds me of March 13, 1989 when I witnessed the aurora horizon to horizon from 9 to 2 AM in the freezing cold outside.

I watched a clip of the Sedan Delivery and while it was definitely a bit ragged, (first since 2013) it got rolling as the song went on, and Neil looked like he was having a blast playing it. Also, Micah chimed in with some unique backup, which I'd like to see more of.
ReplyDeleteI've watched clips from just about every show and it seems like things are jelling more with each show. Billy and Ralph are their usual rock selves. Micah sounds good, but I'd like to see him be a bit more aggressive with his unique guitar stylings. He seems to be playing more like Poncho, which is understandable, but I think he can bring a bit more of himself to the table, which it seemed like he was doing on that Sedan.
Neil sounds great, both on Ol Black and especially vocally. His leads aren't as crisp as we've heard before, but that may have to do with his hand and wrist issues. More fanning than tight soloing, but it's all good. The one thing I've noticed is that he seems to be fiddling with his pedals and Ol Black more than usual, like he's not quite happy with the sound. Maybe I'm over analyzing it, have you guys who have been to the shows noticed this?
Overall though, we're seeing strong Crazy Horse, and it's getting better with each show, always a good sign with Neil. I'm hoping for the Hollywood Bowl somehow, or hopefully some dates closer to the Bay Area added at some point.
I think a Pocahontas tonight is a near certainty. I'm out on that branch here . Don't let me fall Shakes !
