PROBLEMS WITH BBC CONCERT DVD

We have an issue with the quality of one of the discs in HARVEST 50th. We are talking to Reprise about how to handle this so you get what you paid for. I am very sorry if you have a DVD that is not perfect. We are working on a plan with Reprise for those of you who feel the BBC DVD has a problem and we will let you know when we have something to offer you and a good method.
apologies

Sorry, folks, really a bummer on such a otherwise fine anniversary package.

  1. I don't understand why people would want a replacement copy. I'm pretty sure that Neil keeps telling us stuff along the lines of mistakes are good, tstriving for perfection is no longer the correct way to do things, that wwhatever is done the first time is the real thing and should be kept...blah, blah... blah

If Neil Young had just dashed off those first four albums, well,... I don't know what would have happened.

  3. The irony isn't lost on me that 25 years or so ago I, and I'm sure others, would and indeed have paid over the odds for a bootleg cassette / video of a Neil show, and I know that back then I would have been delighted with the BBC show as we currently have it, flaws included.

But, Neil is the first to keep repeating the quality whether we want it or not mantra, and as such he has to step up to the plate here and put it right, and good on him for he appears to be trying to do just that.

I know we've had all the recent releases of 1971 acoustic shows, which have been stunning, and that the BBC show has been regularly shown over the years and as such maybe we've all got a bit blase about it. But there's no escaping that actually it's one of the best examples visually that we (possibly, I'm sure I'll be corrected) have of solo Neil from that time and it deserves to be presented to us as well as it can be.

How about us just sending in the dodgy copy Neil? Then the correct one could be posted back to us? I'm guessing that there'll be a few in people's Christmas stockings this year so not everyone may have access to proof of purchase, but sending in the bad copy would surely show that the sender has the box set as the dvd isn't available separately? Just a thought....

  4. Any update on the fix for the BBC disc? Will there be a new production run or a callback on the sets already in the stores? I've been holding on buying the Harvest Anniversary set until I know I'm getting the intact BBC disc.

Side note: Neil and Warner came through nicely with the fix for the Way Down in the Rust Bucket disc - but Finnish customs made me pay duty on the disc even though it was a replacement for a defective item bought in an a brick-and-mortar record store - so I want to get the correct audio on the first purchase this time around.

BTW, it's Boxing Day and as I'm typing this I'm listening to Ben Keith's Christmas at the Ranch. What a nice Yuletide gift from the Archives!
