Neil Young's film "Berlin" played this past weekend in Hearse Theater | NYA and the following song "Mr. Soul" is an outtake from the film. (Thanks Harm!)
"Neil Young in Berlin" (1983), directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, is with The Trans Band and filmed in concert on Oct 19, 1982 at Deutschlandhalle, West Berlin, West Germany.
And might that be Producer David Briggs @ ~1:30???
Sure looks like it Briggs.

More on Neil Young's film "Berlin" & TRANS Band.
The Berlin show didn't really click for me but I agree that it should be released in its entirity. I enjoyed the Mr. Soul video. -Alan
ReplyDeleteIsn't that Joe Lala doing the onstage hand claps?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this video ! I believed there was no outtakes from this concert... Good and funny surprise.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, NY said today they are working on Boarding House 1978 for Archives vol 3... It seems they are working on dozens of project at the same time... But Boarding House should be very special with debuts of many gems as Hey Hey My My and Trasher... But also with the only performances of Shots !!!
I think I might know where this clip originated from, probably the 5 hour Much Music Neil TV special. I think I have some of that on DVD somewhere. Clips are here and there on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteGhosts on the Road has many great clips (although many in rather low quality unfortunately): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCViFYvuq2HQRJN1ia5DDKng
That is Joe Lala
ReplyDelete@ Alan - try Berlin again. put on your best retro gear and travel back to the future w/ TRANS band.
ReplyDeleteunder proper conditions, it works.
Just like FITR blasting on the open highway.
@ Art Symbol - thanks, we guess if we watched the whole concert we might have figured that out. but it does look like Briggs a bit, no?
@ Phil - thanks on Boarding House 1978 for Archives vol 3 news.
wow. that's just so far ahead we may not even bother here @ TW. the gap between Vol #1 & 2 was supposed to be 2 years max.
given the way things are going w/ NYA, we could see this whole box concept get scrapped for timeliness issues.
Still don't understand why NYA #2 had no Bluray? inexplicable given there were videos created for every track like NYA#1
@ Harm - maybe so given that icon on screen shot of NeilTV inside an M.
yeah, checking out GITR. if you see some good clips for us to highlight here on TW, pls share.
@ Acoustic FeedBack - ok, Joe Joe Lala it is. we'll update. thanks.
What an awesome version of Mr. Soul. What a shame that it wasn’t included on the DVD. Thank you Thrashers for posting this little rarity.
ReplyDeleteThe releases are stacking up like pancakes, I’m getting a tad bit nervous that Neil is saturating the market. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited about everything he’s mentioned, but this pandemic has negatively impacted my credit card just to make ends meet, but at least I’ll be able to steam all this amazing music on NYA for only $19.99 a year. As long as they don’t play the Limited Edition game, I’ll eventually have a chance to own the physical product, especially Vinyl.
It’s a wonderful time to be a Neil Young fan indeed.
Peace 🙏
One more on the road: Catalyst 84 with CH should be a dvd for archives vol 3 according to a comment on NYA related to Touch The Night video. These short sets are another graal to me... So vol 3 will cover end 76 up to 84, at least. Well it's just teasing us again but archives team seems working hardly.
