Playlist of the Moment: Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) Boxset

Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) Boxset

The Playlist of the Moment is from Thought of the Moment: Neil Young Archives Volume II (1972 - 1976) Boxset  by Aer:

I had to make me a couple CDs for the car.... nerdy CDs likely to annoy (almost) anyone riding with me..... to study the brand new songs that even a trader from the seventies had never heard, and other more recent songs that came out of the unreleased category.

Many like me had heard some/many before on the obsessive live show recordings, but there were still those special surprises that makes one wonder how Neil could keep them in the can all these years! One CD is an unreleased/original version collection, and one was a comparison CD that ended only because I ran out of room.

Yes.... I still like to burn CDs and play them in my 2004 H2OFACE 4runner with 200K miles and a CD player and cassette deck in it. (I need an 8 track!)

Thanks Aer. Fun exercise and addicting.  Interesting on Disc 2 Comparisons.  Really would like to hear others comments on the exercise here, especially "Love Art Blue" which shows up multiple times in various configurations.

More on Aer & Neil and that time that Waterface Met Neil's Bus

For me, I skip including the live albums. I like ‘em, but I guess I like to stick to the canonical albums.

If it’s from one of the 4 albums from this period, it’s on the list.

But Time Fades Away has a track from two years earlier and we know what the original order for Tonight’s the Night was, so I take a few liberties.

  3. What did Neil say when he saw the lisence plate? Have you had any other NY plates? Like

    SGR MTN
    RN FR WORLD
    PWDR FNGR
    MY MY HEY2X
    LKN4LDR 20
    LTTL WNG
I could spend all day doing this! Not sure if we have personalized LPs in DC, but my spouse is a danger bird, so I couldn't do it regardless.

  4. Great ideas for plates! No, I have never had any other NY plates, but now H2OFACE lives on the classic black and yellow in California, too. I have a pretty long story to tell about the life of the plate, though, and I gifted one to Neil. I have some pictures of the progression, and can't post the pictures in this comment. And a 50 minute or so feature with Paul Perrone, the software guru of the LincVolt with super interesting details about the moment in time in the development around 2009. Perhaps Tharsher could let me know how to tell the story.... maybe an email to you, with the extended story and pictures and links? Let me know.

I find the progression of Love Art Blues particularly fascinating. By the third version, with the yodeling and all, it sounds like a Hank Williams tune!

  5. @ Joe - thanks for biting! great playlist.

did you build that on NYA?

@ wsanjose01 - the 5 min Vincent Price intro kind of almost worth the price of admission. which back in the day was like $5. if

@ NYBD11-12 - very creative license plates ideas.

not sure about personalized LPs in DC? Except
    "Taxation w/o Representation"

@ Aer - yes, pls share tales of LV.

California plates are 2-7 (and some of them 2-6) characters. This includes spaces.
Virginia had 8 to fill, with characters or a space, or 6 if you picked one that had a symbol of some kind included. So ideas have to conform to spatial limits. I was very please no one had H2OFACE when I moved to California, and I could still wear it.
