  1. Speaking of B#%€ S^#=, I was reading the letters today on NYA and on two separate letters Neil said that vinyl is no longer made in the US. I don’t know where he got that information but it simply isn’t true. There are several pressing plants here and one is a world class pressing plant in Selina Kansas called Quality Record Pressings or QRP. They have exclusive rights to ALL of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue and are pressing some of the greatest jazz artists as well. I have purchased dozens of records from them and they are second to none. And that includes Pallas in Germany.

I immediately sent this information to NYA with contact information so they can check them out. According to Neil, they have his vinyl made in the Netherlands and that is why Colorado was so expensive on vinyl. I’m beginning to wonder who is in charge of Neil’s business, as he also stated recently to Allan in Seattle that he wasn’t aware that artists were still releasing Blu Rays. Which I might also add is complete B#^~} S€%#~!!!!!

I hope my letter at least gets to the folks responsible for informing Neil on these issues so he understands that there is a affordable solution to his ignorance of the facts.
    🤞🤞🤞
    Peace

  2. QRP also released the complete DOORS studio catalogue box set mastered directly from the analog tapes on 200 gram vinyl at 45rpm. The sound is mind blowing. Same for CCR studio catalogue taken from the original masters. And Stevie Ray Vaughn. And Nora Jones. Other artists they have treated to the same care and quality are Muddy Waters, Cat Stevens, Miles Davis, Yes, Joe Walsh, Nat King Cole, and dozens more.

Sorry for ranting..... but I’m frustrated that Neil is being kept in dark.

    Peace

  3. There must be some misunderstanding somewhere. Another outfit that produces vinyl records is Jack White's Third Man Records and Neil himself has recorded there.

  4. @ Joel_Grant : Exactly, I have purchased many records from Third Man. They have pressing machines and also do all the jackets as well.

    Peace.

  5. This discussion made me aware of the fact that I have zero knowledge of what it costs or involves to make a vinyl record.

    This article:

    https://mojitomastering.com/hot-wax-when-does-it-make-sense-for-a-band-to-press-vinyl-records/

Discusses some of the economic decisions an artist needs to make in order to determine whether or not to make a vinyl record. The discussion is very much from the point of view of artists who, unlike Neil Young, are not confident they can sell more than a hundred or so records. It discusses selling the records at gigs. Nitty-gritty details like that.

Anyway, I think the article might interest a few readers around here.

  7. @ Dan - yes, strange.

Good to hear you wrote NYA. no apologies for rant and understand frustration.

Let's see what they say in response. The NYA Letters are probably one of the more consequential components of NYA. It'll be interesting to see how this Vote for Next release thing works out.
    🤞🤞🤞
    Peace

@ Joel - thanks for link. we'll check out.

  8. Thanks Thrasher, and I agree, the letters section is a great way for us to make contact with Neil. Definitely one of my favorite things about NYA. I’ll update everyone when and if I hear anything back.

    Peace.

  9. I was at that show at the Murat theatre and it was a FANTASTIC show. Neil and POTR were on fire, as Micah’s Everything is BS illustrates. I saw Neil 8 times last year and this show was only second, IMO, to the show in Antwerp where I was lucky enough to be when Neil resurrected On The Beach. I had the chance to talk with Lukas about the On The Beach “resi” and he told me he thought it was an amazing night too. Indy was REALLY good too, and the theatre was just shy of
10x smaller than Arena in Antwerp. Any of you NEIL FREAKS considering hoping
on a plane to see Neil in a small theatre (if we get a chance again soon) I strongly suggest it. Hope 2020 is as productive for Neil as 2019.....!!
