Photo of the Moment: Neil Young on His Birthday
Neil Young shared a photo yesterday on social media on his 74th birthday.
While we have seen thousands of images of Neil over the decades, there are relatively few of him smiling broadly. But never have we seen a full ear to ear grin of such a happy man. It really looks like the guy was having one of his best days. We sure hope so after the year he's had thus far with his losses of Pegi and Elliot earlier.
So here's to happier days ahead.
While the photo is un-credited, one feels that it was taken by someone who loves life. But don't we all love life? We mean, who doesn't love life? LAOL
Lastly, several have commented that our posting yesterday on Neil Young's 74th Birthday Today, November 12 - Happy Birthday Neil, oh ye of Fine Moral Character, sir! was a real eye opener in terms of documenting the claim that "Neil Young has Good Moral Character". (See CITIZEN NEIL: Canadian Neil Young's Application To Become A U.S. Citizen Delayed Due to "Possible Lack of GMC (Good Moral Character)").
It should be noted that the listing of charitable causes and benefits is only partial and stops at 2010 -- which was our last update. Rarely -- if ever -- has a single artist supported so many causes, for such a sustained period, raising considerable funds and awareness while reaching out to millions and millions around the world. When reviewing Neil's listing of benefit concerts, not only is one struck by the sheer diversity of benefits he has supported over his 50+ year career, but that clearly Neil Young is a humanitarian rebel WITH causes.
To say "Long May You Run" is to wish for more Neil goodness and his outstanding "GMC (Good Moral Character)" in our futures.
Be the GMC, not the GMO!

I think, with the Maple Leaf, he is sending a reassuring message north.

ReplyDeleteI will only say a great humanitarian , someone who actually gets it and translates into his music as an absolute genious of lyrics only surpassed by his musical skill on many instruments. Happy birthday Neil. My first song, COW GIRL IN THE SAND, 4 way street. That acoustic will always be with me forever brother. Tremendous, and that was just the beginning for the legend, God bless. Bob

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to my ALL TIME FAVORITE ARTIST Neil, Long May You Run!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday , my favorite inspiration , long may you run !
ReplyDeleteSpent a good chunk of life getting attention and praise for shamelessly butchering your music on my old guitars at parties, etc. Even done badly people always hear you. Never got to see you live. Makes me sad. Had tickets once for 'Third Best Garage Band' tour in the '80s in Omaha but the show canceled last minute and I've never been able to catch up since. I did finally get over that though. Last week. Truly, thanks for everything. A lot of greats but only one you.
ReplyDeleteCheers Neil you've been my rock for many a year. Thanks pal

ReplyDeletePlease don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing.
NOBODY DOES IT BETTER THAN YOU!
" What is your name ? My name is nobody .... Xebeche .... he who speaks loud and says nothing "
ReplyDeleteHow fitting .... Mr Earth ... speaks loud .. holds a Maple Leaf and is lost between two countries .
The leaf he holds is as significant as the piece of paper that allows him the thought and suggestion of being Canadian .
It is only a piece of paper and a leaf until you live , pay taxes and express the privilege to vote in Canada .
Something Mr Earth has not done for a good many birthdays ...eh
Nobody
Happy belated Birthday from a long time Fan.
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest musical genius on this planet thanks God for being here at the same time
