  1. The van der Linden documentary, Swing in Mit Neil Young, isn't "unreleased" - it has aired several times on German television over the years (recordings of which have circulated among fans in other countries).

  2. Babbo B. and Neil fans: the film of “Old Man” was shot by the filmmaker Wim Van Der Linden and the majority of it was in the film “Swing In Mit Neil Young”. Thanks for the reminder, Babbo B.

The only “unreleased” part was the video of Neil delivering the rap before the song. The audio of the rap was in the original film, but the actual footage shown during that rap in the original film was of Neil hanging with the subject of the song - Louis Avila - who was the ranch caretaker at Broken Arrow.

So the film of the rap is the unreleased gem of this “new” screening.

I thought it all was very cool!

  3. So, after watching Journey Through the Past last night i now fully understand why Neil has stuck to music as his chosen art from and not film.

To be kind, the film is stoned mess. No arc, no narrative, no cohesion, no fun, no point, no real purpose, no great scenes of any real worth.

It is basically, shoddy home video, made by a stoned Neil mixed with mediocre live footage. The abstract stuff is better but there is no where near enough of it and what is there... not applied with enough conviction.

I love Neil, i really do but.... JTtP is dirge and most certainly $400,000 of money that was not well spent.

1hr and 20mins of hoping for something better, something fun, anything other htan what was on screen.

  4. @ bscore- thanks for clarification here. The term unreleased may not be precise in this. Or should have included an asterisk.

Actually, that's what we'll do on next update.

  7. Don't know where I was, but I never saw Rust Never Sleeps before. How is that possible? It's terrific!!

And quite "stagey" for a natural guy.

  8. @ Ba7Z's - Regarding JTTP's cinema virtuosity, as Neil Young wrote on Times-Contrarian | NYA:

"I was not trying to impress anyone with my film making prowess and I succeeded."

@ wsanjose01 - anyone catch kid's name in credits and looked up yet?

@ Ken N. - say what?! well, about time, better late than never. Now you need to watch 100 times to catch up with all the rusties!
