"Rockin in the Free World" - Neil Young + Promise of The Real - BottleRock, Napa Valley Expo, May 25
No one can stop Neil Young.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was cut off at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival on Saturday night for violating the outdoor event’s 10 p.m. curfew.
But that didn’t stop 73-year-old Young and his accompanying band, Promise of the Real, from finishing their final song, “Rockin’ in the Free World.”
As video from the event shows, they continued to play through their stage amps ― and the crowd helped make up for the lack of volume by singing along.
Someone can be seen running out onto the stage around the 7:45-mark in the clip, possibly to warn Young of what was about to happen. About 20 seconds later, the main audio was cut:

That's an amazing festival setlist. I have to imagine the lid nearly blew off. Just awesome. Can't wait to hear the reports.
ReplyDelete@Thrasher and @Steve, what a phenomenal set list! One hopes, of course,there's no such thing as a spoiler here: even if the set list remains the same, they'll sound a little different each night, hence the magic of life performance.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated trivia: I'm not sure I've ever seen (nor expected to see) NY on a marquee with Miley Cyrus. The times they are a-changin, no doubt.
More important trivia: I recently came upon this trailer for an upcoming movie about David Crosby: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln9dtQ8tuKk. Don't think I've seen it on here yet. Brings back a lot of ambiguities I have felt about him in the past, looks interesting and almost painfully revealing.
