PARADOX: New Neil Young Film Premiere @ SXSW in March

PARADOX

A new Neil Young film will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX in March. (Thanks HtH!)

The film's director is Daryl Hannah and the Producer credits are "Bernard Shakey" and "Elliot Rabinowitz" (Neil & Roberts).

From SXSW Film Festival listing:
Time is fluid in this far-fetched, whimsical western tale of music and love. Somewhere in the future past, The Man In the Black Hat hides out between heists at an old stagecoach stop with Jail Time, the Particle Kid, and an odd band of outlaws. Mining the detritus of past civilizations, they wait… for the Silver Eagle, for the womenfolk, and for the full moon's magic to give rise to the music and make the spirits fly.
We have a particular interest in the film as we attended the Neil Young + Promise Of The Real concerts in Telluride, Colorado in 2016 where the band performed in full retro Western outfits for the film.

More on the dream weekend when Rusties did a take over of a small town ski resort for a weekend for Neil Young + Promise Of The Real concerts in Telluride, Colorado in 2016.

Oh, what a weekend ... probably one of our top Neil and rustie experiences of our lifetimes!

  1. So I would assume Neil is the man in the black hat. Michah is Particle Kid. Sounds innaresting for sure. Be cool to see what role Willie plays. Definitely looking forward to seeing this at some point.

  2. The story sounds quirky, but interesting as only Neil would do. I'm sure it will have that SHAKEY homemade feel like most of Neil's films. Frankly I can't wait to see what Daryl has up here sleeve with the production design, as the Home Town concert was creative. Chances are good that the Academy of Motion Pictures won't be interested in seeing it, but art was never meant to be a competition so who cares. Looking forward to the music, and dare I say potential soundtrack. I still find Human Highway to have a certain charm to it, despite the directors cut omission of two thirds of the best scene in the film with Boogie Boy in the crib, but I still have my VHS version copied to DVD to enjoy. I hope I don't have to wait till 2028 to actually see this movie, but who knows, I still haven't seen Trunk Show yet. Time will tell...........

    Peace.

  6. Trunk Show is epic! That was my favorite tour in the past 10 years. And Demme managed to bottle that energy in Trunk Show, amazing ... I predict it will come out sometime before 2045 :) over-under anyone?

  8. Who knows whether in 'Paradox' we are going to have something like Eagles 'Desperado' soundtrack and back cover?

Can you imagine a posse formed by Crazy Horse + Stills and Nash? Crosby would be a perfect sheriff but he has broken with Neil.......

    peace&love
