REVIEW: "Neil Young: Greatest Living Rockstar and his incredible hot streak in the mid-70s" | VICE

Here's a review of Neil Young's most recent album "Hitchhiker" from "Neil Young is a Legend and He Gets to Do Whatever He Wants" | VICE by Will Schube:
With Young releasing the long-lost 'Hitchhiker,' we take a moment to appreciate the Greatest Living Rockstar and his incredible hot streak in the mid-70s.

Normally, an unreleased acoustic album is nothing more than a money grab—a way to make a quick buck off an obsessive fan base. When Warner Music Group-owned Reprise Records announced the coming release of Hitchhiker, it appeared to be a sly attempt at Young looking to get some of that Pono money back in his pocket. (This is an excellent time to remind you that no one cares about music anymore and for the fair price of $400 plus between $10 and $25 per album, you could have fit a portable Pono in your pocket, and had room for cash, nicotine gum, or whatever you carry in your pocket, but apparently high fidelity audio appreciation is dead.) But upon hearing the opening strums of Hitchhiker's "Pocahontas" through the speakers, it becomes immediately clear that the acoustic session is a special record indeed—which should have never been up for debate considering it came during Neil Young's all-time run of outstanding records.

  2. I don't know if I'd call him a "rockstar" especially when we are talking about the album "Hitchhiker" but he's definitely my favourite musician and is certainly up there with the Stones and Madonna and Radiohead and Jane's Addiction and Marilyn Manson and Morrissey and NIN and the Pixies and Sinead O'connor etc. I'm sure glad that old album was finally released and an waiting for more and more new ones as well! Thanks Neil!

  3. Yeah, Neil is great, we all know this, but I wouldn't call HITCHHIKER a REAL album, it is cash-grabby, and Neil's made lots of bad music, this isn't a fan writing, it's a fluffy piece.
Good to know Neil is up there with Marilyn Manson and Sinead O'Connor.

  4. Did you REALLY use Sinead O'Connor in the same sentence as Neil Young??
