CONFIRMED NEW DATES: Neil Young + POTR - Telluride, Colorado, 9/30 & 10/1

Earlier this year we posted on a potential Neil Young + Promise Of The Real concert in Telluride, Colorado this Fall (Bringing Neil Young to A Town in Colorado: Telluride Town Council Holds Hearing on Concert ).

Apparently, bringing Neil to a relatively small town in the high altitude ski area of the Rockies necessitated the Telluride Town Council to hold hearings.

Now comes word that an approval has been received and dates are confirmed for 9/30 & 10/1.

These concerts are warm ups for the big Desert Trip Festival in October when Neil Young + Promise Of The Real will open for Paul McCartney.

  1. If they are doing Cali and Colo they must come East. It's only fair.

  3. Sure hope he does some warm-up dates in North Carolina for the Farm Aid in Virginia!!! Also, for this tour and many others, Neil Young really should join the live download movement and sell them on Pono for a reasonable price like Bruce Springsteen, the Dead, Warren Hayes, John Fogerty and so many others. Think he is ignoring a huge revenue stream because these shows with Promise of the Real are so amazing in terms of musicianship and songs rarely, if ever, played. If he doesn't need the cash it could support charities that are hurting so much in this bad economy.

Really enjoying "Earth" in the car right now but need to bring it inside to listen to on the big stereo.

Long live Neil Young and Promise Of The Real!

  4. Great news that dates are being added. POTR with Neil have been some of the best shows of his career (imho). So good together!

I totally agree on the Live download thing. Why not? Is there a downside? How many people are recording now anyhow and the quality is getting better. I'd imagine there would be lots of people willing to spend some coin on a nice soundboard recording. Maybe get crazy and offer a dvd? I think The Who did this a while back. I for one would be thrilled to have less camera phones blocking/distracting my view and mucking up the experience.

Any word on ticket sale date/time info.?

  7. GD, Bruce Hornsby, Ry Cooder Laguna Seca Raceway 1987? Bill Graham comes out at break with a speech about GD will soon play Telluride CO. He made it very clear the town doesnt want DeadHeads. If you dont have a ticket do not go to this show! That sticks in my mind.

  9. Pre-presales are for residents, yes? Then it looks like presales for members of Telluride Festival of Cars & Color (if you buy the 4 day pass) and also for "Neil Young fan club"? Can someone please tell me if there is somewhere to sign up for this "fan club" or is it a matter of using his website to link to ticket sales when the time comes (as a I've done in the past).

Not (blatently) asking for a password, just wondering if there is any word that there will be on needed.

I've never been to a show in Telluride. Anyone know if it is seating?, Sectiones? All General admission?

    Thanks for any insight!
