Neil Young at SXSW for Human Highway Director's Cut Screening

Tomorrow, Neil Young will be at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas to attend a screening of his 1982 movie ‘Human Highway’ at the Paramount on Congress. Young will hold a Q&A after the screening.

Neil Young's 1982 post-apocalyptic musical comedy, has long been out of circulation and is regarded as a cult classic with its mythical history of production mayhem, post-production chaos and forgotten legacy.

Earlier this year - just prior to the World Premiere of Human Highway (Director's Cut) at the Toronto International Film Festival -- Thrasher's Wheat had an exclusive Q&A session with a member of Neil Young's Shakey Pictures crew who worked on the research, editing and meticulous restoration under the supervision of Director Bernard Shakey.

  1. Is this a sign that this flick is finally going to be accessible to the average hard-core Neil fan? For those who can't make SXSW, what next?

  2. The "hard-core Neil Young fan" will have to wait until 2025 when it's included on archives vol. 3

  4. jjclarke,
saw this in a review of the Q&A from last night, I'll believe it when i see it:

Speaking about his work outside of music, he commented: "You've got to do other things, because just music is not enough." He added that the new version of the movie, which includes previously unseen footage, will be touring film festivals throughout the year, before getting a DVD release. "I like people to look at it in the theatre - I like people to look at it with other people. I'm not a fan of the solitary art. I like to hear people react."
