"Piece Of Crap" - Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Official Video)

In honor of all that is totally dysfunctional in our modern, civilized little world, here's the official video for "Piece Of Crap" by Neil Young & Crazy Horse.

This goes out to all those Restless Consumers everywhere.

More on the album Sleeps With Angels and our review from Broken Arrow magazine #57, November 1994.

On a slightly related subject, from a financial research paper From ABBA to Zeppelin, Led: Using Music to Teach Introductory Microeconomics with "Piece of Crap" lyrics analysis:
"As consumers realize that certain goods are crap, the demand for the goods will drop, resulting in lower prices. At these low prices, it will be more indicative of the crappiness of the good, and consumers will tend to steer clear, unless it is their only option. Also, firms have return policies, so that consumers can exchange crap products."

  2. There was an official video released for the album performance (the one posted above is from the Complex Sessions) of some real grainy super-8 footage of Neil in a hallway or something listening to a playback of the song in headphones. One camera-shot video ala Touch The Night, with a lot less action.
Doesn't seem to be up on YouTube. Anybody else remember this?

  3. Thanks Matt & Keith for info.

    Looking fwd to Journeys.

You're right on the other PoC vid being very lo-fi.

Now wouldn't it have been hilarious to have had a vi for PoC that was really hi-res and glossy and fancy?

  4. Thrash,
To me this live studio performance kind of exploits that irony in that it feels very contrived with the sunglasses and the facial expressions, like they're hamming it up big time. Crazy Horse getting as Hollywood as they know how, to great effect.

  5. @Keith - yes, both the vids for PoC kinda mock the whole music video concept.

Altho none as brilliantly as TNFY.
