Bruce Springsteen & Neil Young: "Souls of The Departed"

At the 2004 Vote For Change concert in St. Paul, MN, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young played together on "All Along the Watchtower" and "Souls of the Departed".

The video has a very surreal feel to it -- black and white, grainy, shot off a video screen.

Also, nice to see Neil & Bruce jammin' with Nils Lofgren.

Definitely screams out for a high quality version somewhere.

  1. Now I ply my trade in the land of king dollar

Where you get paid and your silence passes as honor

And all the hatred and dirty little lies

Been written off the books and into decent men's eyes

  2. There is so much honesty that flows out of both Neil and Bruce's song. I really do believe that while composing, a primordial spirit erupts from within revealing a basic simple truth if the composer it open to it. Sometimes you need a little help from Mother Nature, too.

If the composer is locked into the physical world with an agenda for a song like, "I want to write a song about..." then the primordial spirit says forget it. See ya'll later.

  3. Hope you and Mother Nature will be very happy together because otherwise it looks like all your former visitors are on the run.
    Nice work.

  4. @ no one. Huh?? Speak for yourself. I'm not going anywhere. And I can assume from your post that we won't be hearing anything further from you.

  6. @no one, we're like a big family here. Like most big families spread out across the country, we're less than perfect. You are also part of this family, too, whether you like it or not.

  11. Finally had enoughg time to get thru thisall the way through at a single sitting. Yeah..that's a Brucefest right there. Classic as soon as it happened. Black or white or in color. That's a gem, great cinemography. there are very few performances I have seen Neil sing and not play, maybe less where I've seen him play, and not sing at all. These two have done some nice rocking together. and nils too. Yeah.
