Neil Young's Ark

Well, this falls into the category of "Aren't those Neil fans something else?!"

From Under The Rusted Moon comes Shakey's Ark.

Shakey's Ark is an analysis of the frequency that various animals appear in Neil Young songs.
Neil's songs teem with life literally: In total, 87 song lyrics have animal references. In some songs even more. The biodiversity is amazing: mammals, fish, reptiles, birds - all there. Even dinosaurs in the song "Thrasher"!

With a total of 47 mentions, mammals clearly have the edge. Birds and poultry follow with 32 citations.

A complete breakdown follows, complete with charts, graphs, and zoological taxonomy.

The website Under The Rusted Moon is in German, but can be easily translated into any language using translation feature on upper right of page.

Given the hurricanes and floods of late, we all may just need an ark afterall. So why not Neil's ark?

Danke Ralf & Liza!!

Be the rain!!!

  1. And my kids grew up thinking a line in "Helpless" was about a Sesame Street animal character! You know which Muppet and line I'm talking about, right?

  2. It has often been my dream
    To live with one
    who wasn't there
    Like an ocean fish
    who swam upstream
    Through nets,
    by hooks, and hungry bears
