Tonight's Full Moon Is A "Super Moon"

Tonight's full moon will be a "supermoon".

A supermoon is a new or full moon that happens to coincide with a close approach of the moon to the earth. Saturday's full moon will be the closest it has been to Earth in 18 years, according to Spaceweather.com.

The distance between the Earth and the moon during the event will be about 221,567 miles, as compared to the average distance of 238,000 miles, according to Space.com.

That may not seem like much of a difference (and compared to the distance it's not), but the diameter of the moon is only 2,159 miles. That means the moon will be over 7.5 diameters closer to Earth than average.

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.

  2. I went lookin' for Khaddafi
    Aboard Air Force One
But I never did find him
    And the C.I.A. said Son,
    You'll never be a hero
    Your flyin' days are done
It's time for you to go home now
    Stop sniffin' that smokin' gun.

  4. Archives Guy showed up on rust a few days back in a thread about the full moons on Neil's touring calendar and hinted that something significant in the Neiliverse may "hinge" on the Super Moon. A bunch of us assumed it was a BD-live download. But nothing has turned up yet......wonder what it could be.

  10. I'm curious to know how this "super moon" affects relationships between friends, lovers, pets....people in general. Does anyone out there have any answers, thoughts, experiences they may have encountered these last few days?...

Who can sleep under this moon? Can you? I can't. I've been wide awake for the second night in a row.

  14. I sure wish I'd seen this sooner. I might've been a bit more on guard. As it was, the toilet blew up on Saturday. I went into nuclear meltdown and some relationships will never be the same. My wife loves full moons - not me. I hate to make excuses, but some strange shit seems to take place in my life when that sucker's full.
