Neil Young - MuchMusic Interview - 1996
Here's a rather legendary Neil Young video from Canada's Much Music back in 1996.
The interview came from a full day of programming on Nov 1, 1996 and feature Neil's extensive train set. The studio portions also features lots of Rusties and was documented in detail on HyperRust. (Thanks Reactor!)
When asked about when The Archives would be released, Neil responded "July". And so it went whenever the subject came up. July. Except that -- lnd lo & behold -- the Archives were finally released in June. Thirteen years later in 2009.
Also, thanks RustedTelevision, with Parts 2 thru 5.
Also, see Lionel Trains and Neil Young (Classic Toy Trains - March 1993) and Neil Young and Trains (Classic Toy Trains - Jan. 1996).

I am always fascinated with Neil young interviews.
ReplyDeleteEveryone wants to be Neil's best friend, as interviewers, and, no matter how hard they try..he never lets them get real close...but thats the beauty of the man..so spontaneous ,allusive and illusive.
The interviewer might spend all this time preparing the definitive scoop, that probing question ,that one exclusive insight into Neil that know one might of heard.
Neil's response is nonchalont as if the questions answer is painfully obvious..it always amuses me.
Neil is Neil and thats what I so admire about the man, the fact that he never conforms or is pidgeon holed.
don't ever change Neil..don't ever change

ReplyDeleteTrue Neil. What a treat. Neil TV is better, bumperstickers should be issued. That and a contract for airtime.
It cuts cheese. I still think he's got a future in comedy. He could run a Dean Martin type show right outta the barn every Saturday night. New guests each week. Somebody call Elliot.
SNL--Some Neil Laughs? er,uh, on second thought, maybe not...
