Acceptance Speech of Neil Young's 1st Grammy Win

1st Grammy Win!
Rock Song: "Angry World," Neil Young

"This is my first Grammy for music, and it's appreciated greatly. I'm not Mavis [Staples], but I'm close."

Pegi & Neil Young

Neil Young chats with Access’ Billy Bush and guest correspondent Pauly D at the 2011 Grammy Awards about the possibility of joining Jimmy Fallon on his late show for a duet. Plus, Neil doesn’t have Bieber Fever, but does he have some other kind of fever?

(Thanks Liza!)

Neil is a natural. In all things. It's nice to see it recognized. And in all manners recognized back by him. No wonder he is loved. He loves in his ways.

    Great stuff indeed!

I still think he should have AT LEAST received a Grammy for "After the Goldrush," "Harvest," and "On the Beach."

I thought for sure he was going to get one for "Prairie Wind" and "Living with War" and "Chrome Dreams."

Why was he snubbed all those years?

  11. He should have gotten one for "Last Trip to Tulsa."

  12. One on hand, it's cool to see him get some recognition, but part of me wishes he would've just blown them off.

The man goes 45 years without them recognizing any of his contributions to music, while the likes of Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, and Hootie get awards. There is no real value in these awards besides a night out with the missus and a swag bag. Did they even show his acceptance speech on the broadcast?

I mean, John Mayer has 7 Grammys...

  13. So Neil needs awards? WTF kidding folks I hope! Grammy's are for mainstream pop sugar.

  14. Alot of you y#$%s seem to think awards mean validation.

  16. @HH - say what? "America and Eagle fans that your Heart of Gold Singer got recognised"

i think you may have dropped into the wrong blog possibly??

  17. Vertigone, I understand what you're saying. Neil must have really fucked with a few people in the industry to be snubbed all these years.

It's possible all those people are in nursing homes now and have let their grudge go.

It was a treat to watch my boys the Avetts and Mumfords on Grammy Youtube. Wow! They've gone mainstream!

They have that same heart, sincerity, and respect I felt from Neil's performances when I first discovered his music. Dylan had become so cynical and aloof. He started believing the myths. Acting out the myths.

Neil hung in there with all of us for so long. I am only sorry that it took people so long to warm up to him.

I just hope he doesn't do an Ozzie on us and go to far in the other direction.

Hitchhiker -- I'm a hardcore Taj, Beck & Townsend fan. I have no idea what you're talking about.
