LincVolt Music Video at 2009 JavaOne Conference

Here's a video from the Sun JavaOne conference last week.

In summary, Karen reports:
It’s only about 10 minutes, and it’s awesome.

James Gosling of Sun talkS about Neil and the LincVolt story, and then a video shot by Shakey Pictures to one of the FITR songs (showing LV on the road!), Then talk about how the car works from Johnny Magic and Paul Perrone. It’s epic!

The Sun guy only talks for a second at the beginning and then it goes right into the Shakey Pictures video w/music, then the team talks about the car ... Very Informative.

And LV looks beautiful, as usual. : )

Thanks Karen! Cruise on!

More on last year's 2008 JavaOne Conference with Neil Young, LincVolt and The Archives.

  1. Awesome!

My question, however, and one I'm sure is burning way in the back of everyone's mind while they excitedly discuss the LincVolt project, the brilliant masterpiece FITR (seriously), and the Archives... is....

What happened to Toast? A year ago, it was all, "Toast is gonna be released!" And now nobody's talkin' about it. Y'all been hoodwinked into forgetting about the mysterious Crazy Horse album Toast!!!

    Yurgh!

  5. Man, if Neil sticks by his threat to release all future new material strictly on Blu-Ray, I'm going to have a hissy-fit.

Imagine having to go listen to Toast exclusively on my friend's PS3.

But anyway, this here thread is about LincVolt, so I should probably stick on topic.

Some people on AlterNet or some other lefty website (if I'm recalling correctly) were trashing LincVolt, calling good ol' Johnny Magic a fraud. Apparently this was with regard to the idea that a huge old lincoln could be converted into an economical, clean car. They were ranting about wind drag and whatever, and how Johnny's 65 mpg figure is based on bad mathematics. It was interesting to read some responses from Johnny himself in the article, debating the math questions that his detractor had put him on the spot with. It's actually a very straightforward calculation. Once the gas turns off and you're running purely on electric, you get infinite mpg. I think he and Neil are great, forward-thinking people with incredible ingenuity and spirit, and some people are simply jealous.

I don't understand why people, even people on the left who are supposed to be all green and into "progress" and what-not, have such bad attitudes sometimes, and just can't approve of, or be happy with anything at all...

But in fairness there were a lot of supporters on there too. Anyway, thought I'd share. I wish I had a link (or a better memory)...
