New Song: "Light a Candle"
Light a Candle - Toronto 12/4/08 debut
Light a Candle
Instead of cursing in the darkness,
light a candle for where were goin,
there’s something ahead, worth fighting for,
when the light of time is on us, you will see our moment come,
and the living sole inside will carry on,
It’s a chance to give new meaning to every move we make,
In the cavern, in the cave, where we’ve come from
Instrumental
When the light of dawn is on us,
we will see what we can be,
and the ancient ones will sleep the music sleep?/??
In the hallways of the ages, on the road to history,
What we do now will always be with us.
It’s a chance to give new meaning to every move we make,
In the caverns in the caves where we’ve gone wrong
Instrumental
Instead of cursing in the darkness,
Light a candle for where were going,
There’s something ahead, worth lookin for,
When the light of time is on us,
We will see our moment come,
And the living sole inside will carry on,
Light a candle in the darkness,
So that others might see it,
Light a candle in the darkness, when you go,
Instrumental
Light a candle in the darkness so others might see ahead,
Light a candle in the darkness when you go.

Neil's first GOOD new song in a while. Cheers to Neil, this one might make a good studio bit with some additional arranging.
ReplyDeleteNo, but seriously, listen to "Lookin' At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song)."

Neil's history of borrowed tunes is extensive and really successful, but this is a little extreme, don't you think?

Hmmmm.. thats a good song. Hopefully it will get played again in Chicago. Regardless, it needs to be recorded.

Thanks for the lyrics of the new song. But shouldn't it be "And the living "soul" inside will carry on" ?
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Liza from Germany
This one sounds fuckin good, but it sounds also like The Boss' Erie Canal on We Shall Overcome.
ReplyDeleteI hope that this one will be on a new Crazy Horse album, with Singing a song.
Neil's voice and guitar remind me Hitchhiker here
ReplyDeleteLiza, that's the only thing I didn't know for sure. But it sounds like he sings "sole". My first opinion was "soul" too. In the second verse you can hear "sole" very clear...? BSM
ReplyDeleteWhen the light of time is on us,
ReplyDeleteWe will see our moment come,
And the living soul inside will carry on.
Is there anything out there about "Fuel Line"?
ReplyDeleteHey Dude, it sounds like Bruce's Eyes On The prize on We shall overcome. That's what you wanted to say, isn't it ? Yeah this new song sounds great and it will be, with a Crazy Horse arrangement, Ben Keith's pedal steel and Spooner Oldham's piano. With Singing a song, that's gonna be perfect for a new Crazy Horse album.
ReplyDeleteYeah man, exactly, Eyes on the Prize.
ReplyDeleteAND YOU're right, we miss the Horse.
Am I missing something here? How could 'sole' sound any different to 'soul'???
ReplyDeleteI know you've got soul.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the Dec 9 2008 concert at the Allstate Area in Chicago. It was awesome Best concert I have ever seen. Neil still rocks hard at 63
ReplyDeletehaven't heard "eyes on the prize", that's an amazing song. i was thinking "the stranger" by billy joel, but "eyes on the prize" obviously pre-dates billy joel. but i think both "light a candle" and "the stranger" are borrowing from "eyes on the prize".
ReplyDelete"SOLE"..'SOUL'.. BSM, don't be an ass..arse.The English language is ambiguous enough as it is ...Don't confuse the Germans!.They haf ways and means!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's beautiful Song. I like it.
