Omaha Concert Postponed. Spring 2009 Tour Possibility?

Some curious news on the upcoming Fall tour.

From Omaha World-Herald:
Neil Young fans will have to wait to see him in Omaha.

The singer’s Nov. 5 concert at the Qwest Center Omaha has been postponed until spring due to "routing logistics," concert promoter Live Nation announced Wednesday afternoon.

A new date has yet to be determined, David Gerardi, Live Nation’s Midwest market manager, said Wednesday.

Gerardi said he wasn’t sure why Young is rescheduling the Omaha show. He also doesn’t know when a new date will be announced.

He encouraged fans who purchased tickets to hold on to them and use them for the new date.

Those who want a refund can go to the point of purchase beginning Thursday. Those who purchased tickets by phone or online with a credit card through Ticketmaster, can call Ticketmaster at 422-1212.

So bummer for Omaha. Looking at Roel's tour map we can't discern how there could be "routing logistics" between Kansas City and Omaha given that it's only 166 miles apart (according to the map's cool interactive features) and Omaha is the last stop of the leg?

If there's a silver lining here it is that there appears to another U.S. tour planned for next spring. The never ending tour continues!

Thanks Matt & Liane!

  1. I don't buy the "logistical problems" excuse either. Maybe something to do with the election the night before?

  9. lotta bullshit cancelling the 2 shows. Neil should know by now that alot fo his fans travel around to see shows in different cities.therefore people will have to cancel their flight arrangements, hotel arrangements and car arrangements.....which translates to lost $. Not to mention vacation arrangements made with ones job ! Way to go Neil !

  15. I am crushed! I have not been able to see Neil perform yet. I am a younger fan and am afraid I will never get the chance to see him live. I was so excited for this opportunity. Hopefully it will fall on my day off since I will not have any time left by the time spring comes :(

  17. Neil has done it before to Omaha back in the eighties. Thanks Neil. I'm a big fan and have never seen him live. This is Bush!!! I probably never will.

  18. Postponed Lincoln, NE in the 80's also. This makes 3 times for a guy living in Omaha.

  19. Got stuck for $250 non refundable hotel reservation at DoubleTree/Hilton in Omaha. DoubleTree/Hilton totally unwilling to compromise. Don't make my mistake and fall victim to corporate predatory practices and greed. Please don't stay at the Doubletree/Hilton if you can help it. Hope Neil shows up in the Spring but I remain skeptical.

  24. Singer-songwriter Neil Young has cancelled a Los Angeles concert rather than cross a picket line.

The show was due to take place at LA indoor arena The Forum on Thursday.

The venue's striking workers are engaged in a contract dispute with Faithful Central Bible Church - the owners of The Forum arena.

Young, an honourary lifetime member of the workers' union, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), said he was "disappointed".

The concert will be rescheduled for sometime in 2009, and ticket holders will be eligible for refunds.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to choose between satisfying my fans or backing my brothers and sisters of the IATSE," said Young.

The Canadian performer is in the middle of a North American tour and will release an archival live album, Sugar Mountain: Live at Canterbury House 1968, in November.
