While most of our amazing day at the Farm Aid 2023 Concert was spent enjoying the music, food and people, a considerable amount of time went into speculating on the evening's "Special Guest" -- after Neil Young and before Willie Nelson's final slot.
And then -- without any introduction whatsoever -- a band slowly emerged from the side stage, slowly one by one. We turned to our seatmate Jim and The FarmAidians surrounding us and simultaneously inaudibly exclaimed with looks of disbelief --"DYLAN?!"

Or that time @ Farm Aid 40 we spoke to Steve Earle and consoled him about some audio technical issues during his set. He was pretty upset but we said "it's ok, it's cool."

ReplyDeleteOff topic (I don't mean to start another lengthy discussion): Politely asking for adjustments to the regular columns on NYA's viewpoint page might have an effect, after all. Or is it merely the AI rage that apparently now takes up all the space of public discourse?

DeleteThose two columns I read about “Weaponized interdependence” were fascinating. And the way he ties everything together…It’s ALL one song. Not really off topic at all…
The American farmer is also a casualty of “weaponized interdependence”, imo.
Gary Marcus is on point with his views on AI & I’ve always appreciated Steady (Dan Rather), Robert Reich & Heather Cox-Richardson.
Kudos to Neil & Archives staff!
It’s refreshing to have interesting & intelligent viewpoints interspersed within my favorite artist’s page.
A.I. needs guardrails.
It needs to be Aligned with and FULLY controlled by humans. Period.
Especially when the “Grifter in Chief” isn’t the “High IQ” president he claims to be.
Sycophants aside, it is encouraging to me that a conversation is taking place across the aisle.

Another topic. Large retail sellers in Europe announced the release of "Hit 39" (formerly known as "Tennessee"), an archival compilation of 1985 International Harvester tracks, for December 4, 2026. People who pre-ordered that album get messages now that the release has been cancelled or postponed. Did anyone in the US or Canada hear about such a release?.

Delete"Leavin' the Top 40 behind" I feel the tune was re-incarnated on "Second Song", but...I digress. To all of the folks out there going to FA and/or the warm-up shows...take lots of pictures, have a great time, and write in for all of us that can't go to it OR the warm-up shows!!!

ReplyDeleteFor those attending Farm Aid the 10 day weather forecast for Virginia Beach calls for a high of 70 and low around 59 that will be less humid and mix of clouds/sun. Farmaidians should feel right at home with that weather. It is 94 right now where I am at which is about three and a half hours west of Virginia Beach. I'm sure they will fine tune the weather forecast as we get closer. For now, bring layers! Looking forward to a few days of Willie, Micah, Lucas [Nelson], Neil [Young] and Edgar [Cayce] next week.
