CITIZEN NEIL: Canadian Neil Young's Application To Become A U.S. Citizen Delayed Due to "Possible Lack of GMC (Good Moral Character)"

Neil Young

In somewhat surreal news, the application by Canadian Neil Young to become a U.S. citizen has been delayed due to "possible lack of GMC (Good Moral Character)".

In a posting on Neil Young Archives: "I Have Been Very Successful In My Life", Neil reveals that his initial citizenship interview went fine, but due to a technicality, another interview has been required by the USCIS because of his "marijuana related activities".

Last month, Neil Young said in an interview: “I’ve passed all the tests; I’ve got my appointment, and if everything goes as planned, I’ll be taking the oath of citizenship” shortly after turning 74 on Nov. 12." Neil continues to be optimistic on becoming a U.S. citizen in order to "vote my conscious on Donald J. Trump".

In the meantime, President Donald J. Trump continues to use Neil Young's song "Rockin' in the Free World" at his campaign rallies as.

Neil Young's song "Rockin' in the Free World" starts @ ~1:50 - ~6:30

President Trump used Young's song "Rockin' in the Free World" at a campaign rally in Lexington, KY on Nov. 4, 2019.

Naturally, Daryl Hannah is not pleased.

Nor is Crazy Horse's Nils Lofgren pleased.

Nor are fans, Canadians nor Americans pleased.

Lastly, Neil has parking concerns for his bus, limo and helicopter for the next set of interviews for his U.S. citizenship.

Good luck Neil!

  2. The True North Canadian in me says, "Don't do it Neil." But America has welcomed him into its arms for over fifty years for God Bless America's sake.

  3. "We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or blacks, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities.

We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."
—John Ehrlichman, Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy under Richard Nixon

same as it ever was, same as it ever was, the beat goes on.

    it's all illusion anyway...

  5. Reminds me of certain parts of "Alice's Restaurant".
"I went over to the sergeant. Said, "Sergeant, you got a lot of god-damned
gall to ask me if I've rehabilitated myself! I mean, I mean, I
mean that you send ... I'm sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm
sittin' here on the Group W bench, 'cause you want to know if I'm moral
enough to join the army, burn women, kids, houses and villages after bein' a
    litterbug?"

Obviously his song is GMC enough to be exploited by the real estate man in the White House....

  6. Neil, You already do represent the best musical talent in the USA, and you are a hurricane, too! If the powers-that-be won’t let you vote against the bum, you can encourage millions to be proud to place your vote for you!

    1. I am still shocked over anyone who would want to be a citizen of my country right now. As a baby boomer Neil could do something right now. Tell the baby boomers to get off our butts (I am including myself) as we did during civil rights,60' Vietnam, Kent State, and the 70's with Neil along with us. We need a spokesperson to get us off our butts and put this country back together. Neil most likely will not get the chance to vote but that doesn't mean he has no voice.

  8. I don't know what Neil Young's political leanings are today, and I don't care. I know he was a herald "back in the day ". While in my mind that would be a great ace in his favor, I don't think politics should play a major part of this tempest . Since marijuana is not the mortal sin it once was labeled that too should not be a great part of this case. NEIL welcome if you want to join us.

  12. According to https://registertovote.ca.gov/ The deadline to register or re-register to vote for any election is 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the 15th calendar day before that election. Considering the pettiness of the current administration I'm guessing Neil's citizenship will get approved on Oct 16 2020. I hope I'm wrong & Happy Birthday a day early Neil!
