We all know that Neil Young is a Humanitarian Rebel With Causes.

So Neil -- along with some of our favorite rebels with causes -- is joining the "Global Citizen Ticket Drive".

From Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen Neil Young Join Global Citizen Ticket Drive | Music News | Rolling Stone by Steve Knopper:
To fight world hunger and transform their fans into social activists, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Beyoncé, Black Sabbath, Neil Young, Kanye West, My Morning Jacket and dozens of other stars will donate two tickets to every show they play for the next three years. The Global Citizen Tickets Initiative, announced today, allows fans to earn points (one for sharing a Facebook video dealing with extreme poverty, 20 for raising $20 or more for a participating charity) and apply them to a ticket lottery.

  1. Rock Stars doing what politicians would never do, donating their time and own money to a worthy cause!
Goodonyah guys, this has got to be a win, win situation with everyone benefiting so long as the money raised does actually go into provided for the less well off instead of paying organisers huge fees to run the program!!

The real humanitarians of the world are far removed from "official organizations".

  4. Nice idea but won't make any difference - why not donate all the receipts to charity - they can all afford it!

  5. @robert - really?? if you say so.
@LAJ - being kinda negative, don't you think? So what are you doing to make a difference?

  6. making a difference, in all honesty, is a lot easier when you are famous and have a lot of money. I make a difference each day by being a good father and raising my kids the best that I can. I live paycheck to paycheck. Not much time or money to help others, but I think I contribute nevertheless... peace.

  7. @ 08:04:00 - with all due respect, have to disagree.
celebrity & $'s aren't the kind of difference we're talking about.
that said, you're exactly right that it all starts with self, family & home. teach your children well is where it all begins. so we thank you for that.
our thing here is when someone like LAJ above makes it sound like folks trying to do better are misguided or something. If LAJ was some expert philanthropist, sure, maybe.
but if you're just sitting on the sidelines watching the wolrd go down in flames, than we really don't have time for their petty critiques.
