Beck did perform at last year's Bridge concert so it would seem so.

In other Beck and Neil moments, in 1999 at Rock The Vote's Sixth Annual Patrick Lippert Awards, Beck presented an award to Neil Young and his wife Pegi for their work with Farm Aid and The Bridge School Benefit concerts , as well as their community activism.
- "'Pegi and Neil are amazing people,' Beck said, 'and I'm honored to be presenting this award, and I just wanna say how important [Neil's] music is and the world that he's created. It's made a big impact on myself and a lot of people I know.'
Upon accepting the award, Young thanked the artists that had played at his past Bridge school benefits, but reserved a special thank-you to Pegi, his wife of more than 20 years.
'I'm proud of Farm Aid,' Young said, 'but I'm especially proud to be part of the Bridge School, which my wife Pegi thought up. She said, 'Well, y'know, why don't we have a concert, and then we'll get a bunch of money, and then we'll start a school for kids like our [son] Ben and other kids that need computers to communicate.' So, without [Pegi], it never would've happened.'"

That's gotta be a photo from 1999 because Pegi and Neil looked like that 12 years ago. BTW Pegi wears her hair much longer now and they've been letting their freak flag fly for quite some time unless (of course) they're picking up an award of some kind.

ReplyDeleteThis seems to be a good time to clarify a few things for folks.
Maybe not so obviously, we sometimes post items which we don't necessarily have all the facts or time to fully research. For the most part, we try and do due diligence on all of our postings.
But we receive anywhere from 50+ Neil news items everyday and have to make split second decisions about what wheat to post and what chaff to leave behind.
In this case,we had an interesting photo with no documentation. Normally, we just toss into the chaff pile and move on. Or we spend time trying to run info down.
In this case, we weren't sure about the date or place. But we knew Beck had just performed at Bridge so it seemed kind of logical.
Yes, they all look younger. Hey we all once did too.
Anyways, we continue our somewhat random posting of odds & ends style.
That said, we have never, ever to be "someone who claims to know so much about neil". In fact, we once went through an entire post on that very subject.
The main reason we started doing TW was to share what we knew and allow others to do that as well. Nothing more.
Hey, it's just a blog. But it's our dear readers like Sharon that keep us straight. And we appreciate the richness that our readers bring us and others.
And that's the collaborative aspect of a blog. It's a dialogue. We've never tried to make this a one way street.
Anyways, why do we keep fuck'n up???

Anon, I hope your up for the challenge. It's gonna be quite a task to 'de-throne' Thrashers Wheat! It is the no.1 site on the web, even better then NeilYoung.Com to stay in tune with evry and anything Neil Young related AS it happens .... Good Luck but it will be an effort in futility! Bless You, Thrasher for all you've done for the Neil community as a whole. It is THE only source for the true Neil Young fans and you have a 'leg up' on anyone who would attempt to 'de-throne you! In the meantime, it is a free country the last I checked!
