    2. Hi
just a question about the forthcoming Archives Bluray format....
I've read weeks ago that you have the contact with Archives Guy directly.
The problem is: a friend of mine pre-ordered the Bluray version on Amazon
but they responded that the Bluray will be out in Region 1 and not Free...could you ask to Archives Guy
the real format and codes of this release??? We live in Europe. We'd like to know if
there are chances to "see" the Archives here in Italy and Europe....at the Amazon.com you'll see that they're indicating region 1.

      ReplyDelete
    3. The Blu-Ray is region code free. That's what the Archives-Guy said.

      ReplyDelete
    4. in reply to SF's region code question-

Yes, the BD edition is region-free.

    11. The Kid in the Archives video is it Neil Young?

      ReplyDelete
    12. Hilarious yet sad. He's been promising this thing since 1988. I seriously doubt he'll ever let it out. Pathetic psychodrama....the guy obviously enjoys stringing along his fans. There was a time that Neil didn't have a bigger fan than me. But let's face it, he has an abusive personality. He's beyond self-involved. Nothing could be good enough to justify this kind of build-up.

Compare to the humility and quiet dignity of Bob Dylan. He would never grandstand or clown his fans the way Neil does.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Note to karate-chop yoda, Dylan screwed loyal fans with his latest 3cd Bootleg Vol.3 costing an extra $100 for what amounted to one extra cd. All the rock-gods are tempted by the greedy hand

      This is frustrating!

I don't know if I'm the first person to say this but when Neil was gonna put this out a couple of years back before Blu-ray came along and messed everything up, he was going to have it as a 8-CD, 2DVD set with a 200 page or thereabouts booklet. Now he's put it to different formats - Blu-ray, DVD & CD. The thing is the CD version now no longer has the booklet and the two DVD's (one I presume contains Journey Through The Past which I've been looking forward to seeing). Please don't tell me we're going to have to fork out more cash to get the DVD or Blu-ray (if that's possible) just to get this missing stuff? I'm from Europe by the way.

      From,
A very disappointed Neil Young fan

    17. For those of us from Aus ... JBHIFI has the DVD version of the set up for preorder now- see the following link :

      http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/Product/431126/ARCHIVES_(10_Audio_DVD_Set)

Is $323.99 AUD plus postage - hate to see what the bluray version would be , but seems like you would have to o be specially imported anyway. I bought off neils site, so with preview disc and single I think it will be a fair bit cheaper and better value to get from his site anyway.

Anyone from Aus got their preview disc yet, and how long from date your order was confirmed before you received it ??

      Cheers,

      Mick

I got my preview disc on 12 May. I ordered a while back so I am not sure how long it takes. I remember the receipt had a link to check the progress of your order. (Definitely worth the wait as the remainder will be).

Hey AG, I'm having a problem with the preview Blu-Ray Disc 0. The BD-Live kicked in and I downloaded the basement version of "I Wonder" and it appeared in the timeline etc no problem. I played it several times without issue.

However I went into it today and the blue-pin is now NOT appearing on the timeline but I can see on my PS3 that the file (72Mb in size) is still there.

When I go to the downloads page on the timeline, it says that my PS3 doesn't have an internet connection which is nonsense 'cause I can browse the web with it.

I deleted the file via the PS3 GUI in the vain hope that the file my download again but nada, and I'm still getting a msg that it can't connect to the internet.

      What gives?

    28. Hello,
Please,HELP ME !!I live in Italy and I'm looking forward to buy Neil's Archives BLU-RAY but I have a question for you:
If I buy Archives In USA or Amazon can I play it on my Sony PS3 and my TV??..We here use PAL system and in USA I know they use NSTC sytem.
      Hope in your reply.
      Thank you
      Guido

      ReplyDelete
    29. ciao guido ti rispondo direttamente in italiano.

    35. About BD-live. The timeline in NYA Vol. 1 only goes to about 1973. Does that mean that BD-live downloads from the time period after that (i.e. the one contained in NYA Vol. 2) do not show up on the timeline of the discs in NYA Vol. 1? And what bout the timeline in NYA Vol. 2, will that contain the BD-live downloads of Vol. 1?

    37. Hey Neil Young's album "Le Noise" is an instant classic. So it's great that NY is active with that. To the powers that be, can we get a new BD live download soon? I think it's been almost a year since the last one. I don' expect a new one each week, but I think almost a year is pushing it.

    38. bd live??
      come on !

    39. I knew the bd updates were bullshit from the get-go. We got a couple of moderately interesting tracks and then Neil pullled a "neil" and went on to something else.

    40. Predictions for Volume 2? Anyone?

      How 'bout this:

First track: Don't Be Denied (Nov. 19,1972 - solo acoustic)

Last track: Hey, Hey, My My (May 28, 1978 - with Devo)

(Though I'll go with The Boarding House video as the last disc, so technically the last track is from that show.)

If you think that's not a long enough period for volume 2? By the middle of 1972(end of vol 1) Neil had about 134 known songs written, many of which were early and never recorded. By the end of 1978, he had an additional 108 known songs.
1978 also marks an important transition in Neil's life. Marriage, the birth of Ben. The recording with Devo forshadows much of what would happen to Neil musically in the next Volume.
