ReplyDeleteNeil may have learned this one from his buddies in Phish (who are coming back this coming fall/winter) who made a regular practice to see what dinosaur was touring, and then play one of their songs.
ReplyDeleteOf course Phish's Neil covers weren't in this categoy...they were the odd Cinnamon Girl (three or four times over the course of ten years) and a year or two with Albuquerque in circulation.
Wow. When I first read that Neil was covering "A Day in the Life" I thought "Okay... I suspect that it would be a challenge for him and his band." However after watching and hearing him play it... it is a perfect song for him. I found it to be beautiful and I hope that I will hear him play it in person. I hope he plays it from time to time as he has done with "All Along the Watchtower"... another perfect song for Neil to cover. Neil... you are my hero. Dwight
ReplyDeleteYeah. Still waiting... He will be in Helsinki next thursday. The fourth time I will see him. First time it was the same city with Booker T & The MG's in '93. Great if he plays Time Fades Away... long forgotten classic. Actually anything will do! First thing I heard from the man was Cortez The Killer in the 80's. And it was only the guitar intro without the words, and it struck me.
ReplyDeleteNeil and Paul should do this song together. Neil embodies John's soul and passion and brings the sort of musical wizardry and soaring ascendancy the song deserves. Would be a great Bridge concert surprise. Only problem is that Sir Paul can't remember his lines....
ReplyDeleteEl intérprete de la versión supera al de la versión original.
ReplyDeleteGran tema en su día, ahora Tío Neil lo actualiza superando la "actualización" de Sir Paul.
FOREVER neil YOUNG!!!
