ReplyDeleteNeil Young was received as a living legend in Oslo, the athosphere was magical, the band was on fire, they even got Sea Change right this time, and the Man kept banging the guitar as if his life depended on it, and on the final chords of A Day in the Life all strings broke but two, that kept singing after he left it by the amplifier.

At least two mistakes in the setlist posted. First song was Love and only love, not Only love can break your heart. The song after Get back... was Powderfinger. I left (because I had to get to the airport) during Powderfinger, so I dunno about the rest.
ReplyDeleteNice concert, Neil was on fire. Rosas and Keith looked as they were bored out of their minds during the first half of the gig. Lighten up, guys!
With the two corrections, the set list is correct. The concert ended with Rockin' In The Free World and the extra A Day In The Life. Too bad you missed the final.
ReplyDeletejust got this from the Letterman newsletter:

ROSAS AND KEITH WERE ON FIRE!!
ReplyDeleteGET SOME GLASSES YOU DOPE.
From my position 5 meters from Keith and Rosas, I would not call them "on fire", if they were, I wonder how they look when they're bored. FYI; My contacts are brand new.
ReplyDeleteHere's a short videoclip from the fantastic concert: http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/nyheter/spill/verdi/67847
ReplyDeleteThere is a difference between how you look and how you play, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHe didn't play Mellow My Mind! But what a show they delivered. A mindblowing version of Rocking in the Free World, an extended version of Powderfinger, Helpless, as well as the new songs were just some of the highlights. Magical.
ReplyDeleteDO NOT MISS!
Espen- still natural high.
A great show, but rather short by Neil's standard (1h 50 min:) He did not play Words and No Hidden Path this time. The opening songs Love and only Love and Hey, Hey, My, MY were abolutely brilliant. So were also the accoustic set. I do not think he was on top energy all of the time (though most of the time), as in the fantastic Hammersmith show March 8th., but when he was, it was hard to realize that he is 62 years old. Fun to hear Get Back to the Country from the underappreciated 'Old Ways'.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what I think of the two new songs - I have to hear them a few times more, I guess. When introducing Sea Change: -We f**** this one up the other night. We are not going to do that tonight. You have never heard the song so you wouldn't know anyway.
Oslo Spektrum is not a perfect arene for concerts- no Hammersmith Odeon (or whatever it is called nowadays..)-but the sound was ok and the stage rather 'cosy'. Two concerts with Neil within a few months is not that bad!
The Loner
I was there what a concert, it was my first Neil Young concert and what a concert! Neil Young is in my opinion the best LIVE artist in the world!!! You just got to love him
ReplyDeleteRonny
It was a fantastic show and it was so good to hear Cortez the killer and Rockin´in the free world live. He started the show with so much energy! But spirit road was very short compared to his usually 20 minutes.. But the rest was just fantastic! I think I have to go to Bergen... or Denmark to see the final concert on this tour on the 28.

A great concert by a truely great man. What an awesome guitarist that guy is!
ReplyDeleteI must say I was a little disappointed that he didn’t play “Words” that he played so beautifully in Dublin.
He was really in a good mood. He picked up a bottle of Norwegian beer (Ringnes) and said. “This show tonight is sponsored by Ringnes”. What an ironic statement coming from Neil! I really enjoy that guy’s smile.
It could have been a great concert if it hadn't been for the arena.
ReplyDeleteOslo Spektrum doesn't work for shows like this.
My first and last time at Oslo Spektrum, but hopefully not my last Neil Young concert.
His version of "Cortez the killer" was the highlight of the evening.
I have uploaded 3 songs from the show to YouTube. Go to my page http://www.youtube.com/user/kskyberg
ReplyDeleteI think the show was much better than the one I attended in London last March. Though I loved the acoustic solo set in London.
That’s looks so nice your posting.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks good in your posting.
That will be necessary for all. Thanks for your posting.
