A big thanks to everyone for helping to support Thrasher's Wheat during the most recent Neil Young Europe tour leg. It's everyone's submissions of reviews, links, photos, videos, and comments that make doing this so much fun and rewarding.
We try and read and acknowledge everything that comes through but during the tours we get pretty behind on housekeeping and don't always say "thanks". So apologies if we didn't get back to you or post your info. As the days fly past will we lose our grasp Or fuse it in the sun?
So, the past months have been quite a ride here at Thrasher's Wheat as traffic continues to surge for the concert tour legs.
If you take a look at Google Trends, you can see some interesting data. Not unexpectedly, the close correlation between concert tour dates and traffic levels. We've also included neilyoung.com, hyperrust.org, human-highwy.org, and www.bad-news-beat.org as reference points.
Surprisingly, Thrasher's Wheat's traffic is comparable to neilyoung.com during the tour.
Here's the ranking of traffic by country:
1. United States
2. United Kingdom
3. Canada
4. Germany
5. Spain
A new feature that we put up for the tour is a live traffic feed -- which is pretty cool -- that allows you to see where folks are coming and going. That's always available on the bottom of the right sidebar along with other trend data.
Again, thanks for supporting Thrasher's Wheat! We'll try and do it all over again in August!

Thanks for everything Thrasher. Great work. Neil should be proud of you. I don't think there's another fansite for any artist that is so sincere. It's real fun to to check your site during NY tours and other NY events.

That traffic ranking is dynamic and constantly fluctuates. I guess whn I grabbed those stats that was the current ranking. So get some more of your mates aboard and bring up the under!

Hey Thrasher, thank you for a wonderful, selfless job... you do the best job one can imagine, considering the mercurial nature of the information, including the frustrating pace with which Neil news changes (e.g., archives release info)... You deserve special commendation and round of applause from Neil fans around the world.
ReplyDeleteI know this site is all about Neil, but it would be nice to know a little more about the guy who makes this all happen -- I know you live in the DC area (one can tell from the frequency of news from this area) -- but apart from that, it's a big mystery. Maybe you feel that the focus should be on the Godfather of Grunge, but a little info would be "innaresting" (for instance, do you have a day job?, e.g., tuning guitar's and testing feedback at Chuck Levin's) - after all, if McDonnough can insert himself as much as he did in Shakey, you certainly can provide a little bio info.
Anyway, as Neil said best, "some get strong, some get strange, sooner or later it all gets real, Walk On!"

ReplyDeleteThere's only Neil Young site worth visiting and thats you - Neil's official site is not even though looking at.
You bring us up to date with what we need and its great that its accessed by people worldwide.
Here in the UK I'll sruggle to see Letterman and the other TV shows but no doubt someone will update us on what was said.
I have to sympathise with the Australians - can't believe he hasn't played there for so long - I thought he would this year after the first Europe tour in Spring but I'm sure he'll get there.
And if he does we can all follow what he does on this site!
