"Neil Young is descended from the Gods"

So when we came across this line that "Neil Young is descended from the Gods" on a BBC blog by Steve Lamacq, we were quite amused. Until we realized that it was linked to Thrasher's Wheat?!

Just for the record, we've never, ever said that "Neil Young is descended from the Gods." He is God. ;) Or maybe he's just a healer? OTOH, he just might have an hotline to the great spirit in the sky. Irregardless, show me the way and I'll follow you someday.

But seriously, Steve's blog is quite an amusing read.
What's impressive though, aside from the sometimes distorted, disaffected sound he wrings from his guitar, is the vengeance still etched across his face. His contorted expressions, relayed rather scarily on the big screens either side of the stage, reveal a man still haunted and unsettled by the emotions of his own songs. I even get quite cosy with the fact that he can't end a song without three minutes of re-iterating what he's just done for the past eight. He is Neil Young. He is Premier League. He can showboat as much as he likes.

More on BBC blog by Steve Lamacq.

More Neil Young at Hop Farm Country Park, Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Kent, England Concert Reports: 7/6/08.

  4. Having just read Steve Lamacq's blog I have but one comment:

    Please make him stop!

Writhing about at my computer screen, forced to read his unending diabtribe, he lurks about, a non-convert,(music critic ?!) wannabe taking pokes at god for fun - lest he forget that there were Inquisitions held for such blasphemy... His punishment should be to listen to Like a Hurricane for 5 days straight...

Only record is Rust Never Sleeps --indeed!

  6. Neil is God? Well, well, I've only been saying that for the past 29 years. Nice to see someone finally agreeing with me.

  7. Clapton is GOD! Neil is GOD!?
"...You're only as good as your last note!"
    That's all Neil is doing.
There is a GOD, however, but it's not you or me or Neil.
I saw a bumper sticker today.."What would Neil Young Do?"
I think Neil has a bumper sticker that says, "DOG IS MY CO-PILOT".
