Road Trip Anticipation: Long may you run, Mr. Young

A really great Neil story that's worth a read over on Kent State University New - "Long may you run, Mr. Young" by Tim Magaw:
This weekend I'm going to see Neil in Detroit. Although I paid almost $200 for a ticket and will be driving almost 200 miles to the second most dangerous city in America to bask in his glory, I can't say it won't be worth it.

Nice words, Tim. Really nice.

  1. Neil has changed my life since i saw him on the LWW tour for the first time. I became a devoted fan, $ometimes too devoted, and have collected over 30 of his albums. Every single one is brilliant to me in some way. I saw Neil in LA on 10/30. Couldn't afford the second show, and it hurt my heart to know that he was performing again and i couldn't go. Come back sometime Neil. I would seriously love to follow the tour.... I am drunk on Neils rock&roll.......can anyone help

  2. those Ohio people never have had a good thing to say about anything in the state of Michigan. Im from metro Detroit and let me tell you, there are some magnificant places. The first time I met Neil, last year in Toronto on the CSNY show, I told him about how I had seen him at the Fox Theatre a couple of times and man did his eyes light up. He said it was one of his favorite places to play and if he had his way he would make a stop there on every tour for the rest of his life. Looking forward to Saturdays show!! ~peace and love

  3. Given that Tim lives a bit south of the first most dangerous city, it is odd that he disparages Detroit as the second most dangerous city.

I can't be too smug. I come from the third most dangerous city: Chicago. If the crime doesn't get you, the politicians will. We love Michigan though. We take our vacations there. No one ever vacations in Illinois. One plus: We get two Neil shows. How come New York gets six? Lucky b*****ds.

    Can't wait for the 12th.
